Daycare for my newborn baby?

February 21, 2012 9:23pm CST
I will be having my second son in april, at first we were considering daycare, but after checking out the price of daycare we decided it would be better for my husband to stay home with him. I am also considering asking my husbands brothers wife to take care of the baby, she doesn't work. The thing is she also has a baby ( 11 month old) and she smokes. Im just not sure she would be able to handle it of it I would be able to trust her, not to smoke around my baby, to take care of him etc..

Well if you don't trust her not to smoke around your child then don't leave him with her. You can fine babysitters or in home day cares that are affordable but you would have to meet with the person and see if you like them or not. Me I have a one year old and I used to watch 4 and 2 year old with my daughter all of the time. At that time my daughter was only 9 months. I'm having my second baby in September so I plan on sending my daughter to preschool if we can afford it while I take care of the new baby. But I'm a stay at home mom so I enjoy having kids around just that new born do need a lot of attention and with a toddler I don't want to do that to my daughter.

Smoking is no good for babies. I would suggest to hire someone whom you can trust o take care of your baby. Someone who do not drink and smoke and loves children very much. I hope you can find someone to take care of your baby. :)

Thank you, I hope so too. I guess that my husband we'll have to stay home if we don't find anyone else, no one will love him more that one of us. Thanks!

I was very fortunate to have my parents living just a mile away from our house so it was very easy for us to drop off our son at their place. Although during the first two months, my wife and I took alternate leaves from our work. We weren't comfortable leaving our baby in a daycare. Well, aside from the fact that the nearest one was a bit out of the way. I'm not so sure too if your brother-in-law's wife could take care of two infants. It's hard enough as it is just to take care of one. If your husband wouldn't mind staying at home, then I guess that's the best option to take :)

Yes, every day I wish my mother would move close to me and help me out. Unfortunately its not an option for me. But I agree its hard to take care of one baby two, specially a newborn would be too much.
