It was my mouse antenna

I made a discussion about my computer going crazy. I thought it had a virus. It kept making plusses and minus signs everywhere. I couldn't even open up my all programs because the search got bombarded with plusses and minus signs. My son in law took the mouse antenna out of the USB port and it worked perfectly. He put the mouse back on and it acted up again. THEN I hooked the mouse up to my other laptop and IT started acting crazy. SOOOO... I've got to quit using my mouse for my computers to work properly. I don't understand why this is happening all of a sudden. I changed batteries in my mouse and it still acts up but not as bad. Why is this doing this? It never did before.

I got my first wireless keyboard & mouse with my new computer so I can't say I know what is happening to yours. If it were mine, I'd get a new wireless mouse & see if it does the same thing. The worst that can happen is that you'll have to go back to a wired mouse. I hope somebody here that knows more than I do can answer your question. Computers are WONDERFUL when they work & drive me INSANE when they don't!!! Maybe your s-i-l can help you a little more. GOOD LUCK!!!

I hate the finger pad too!!! I've been noticing that a good majority of the new wireless keyboards are coming out with the finger pad mouse also. Only good thing about that is my cats will NO longer be able to steal & hide my mouse!!!

I guess I can get used to the finger pad. I keep reaching for my mouse though. I didn't know the new keyboards were coming out with finger pads too. I didn't know a mouse could screw up a computer like that either... but it must have bit the dust. It's a laser mouse... I'll either get a new one or just get used to this blasted finger pad. I hate it.

It always worked fine. I don't understand it. I'll get a mouse for both my laptops when I get paid. I can't stand using the finger pad.

I gazed into my Crystal ball and I can see a new mouse in your future.

I'm not really sure why it would do this I want to say I've had this problem as well with mine before. I don't recall what the solution was or the trouble was exactly. That can be so frustraiting, I'm glad you found out what the cause was. Usually if something appears like that for me it's a key being stuck.

It was the mouse. I plugged the mouse in to my other laptop and the same plusses and minuses started going crazy again. I take it off and use the touch pad and it works perfectly. I'm going to get a new cordless mouse and try it. There must be something wrong with the part that goes into the USB port.

That is really odd. Never seen a mouse do that before! Perhaps the usb chip is failing on it or corrupt.

It happened on both laptops when I plugged in the USB plug that is the antenna for the cordless mouse. It's never happened before, but yesterday it happened and happens every time I put it in.

I take it this is a wireless mouse? It could be that the mouse itself has a virus.

PQ: I have not faced a similar problem earlier. May be you can use another mouse and operate on your computer and laptop. If that one works well then the error must be with the mouse only and you can buy a new one.

I have not come across a mouse using an antennae. Mouse connected through a USB port.

Mine has an antenna that operates a mouse and keyboard. I don't use the keyboard for it though dice I use the laptop's keyboard. It's a blak wire with a receiver on it and plugs into my USB port.
