Sherlock Holmes

I've taken interest in him for as long as I can remember and yet it is only now that I had the time to read him, thanks to the free ebooks I got from Project Guttenberg. I just finished reading A Study in Scarlet and The Sign of Four. I decided to read the books in order of publication, so if Wikipedia is correct, next in line would be The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. I started reading the first few lines but I had to stop since I am at work and I haven't done any since yesterday (and yet I find myself mylotting. Tsk tsk tsk). Anyway, I find Sherlock Holmes fun and ingenious although I am quite disappointed. I was expecting a detective story that would enable readers to be able to solve the clues themselves but it seems that Mr. Sherlock Holmes always solves it because of some crucial bit of information that was not given to the readers until he decides to reveal it. Although I must admit that for a book that were written in the late 19th and early 20th century, the books were very easy to read and comprehend. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle really was a good author. Anyway, I'd love to know if there are any Sherlock Holmes fans out there, though it is highly improbable that there isn't! And if so, would you like to share something about him or anything at all.

I've not read Sherlock in quite awhile but read him online for free myself. I loved reading his stories and read quite a few. His style of writing intrigued me and I didn't find any annoyance in the way he revealed at the end the crucal clue he didn't let us know before.

I guess maybe it's the inner sleuth in me. I want to solve the mystery before Sherlock Holmes does! Haha! Though I love how at the end, the whole story as to why the criminal did what he did was told, and how much of a gentleman the criminals were! Think of how they react and not blame Shelock Holmes for capturing them. WOW

I had a book of his stories before, just a few of them. The only title and story I could remember is "The Speckled Band", I'm not so sure if that's it. Anyway, I like the stories and in fact wanted to read all of it, since I now borrowed the whole volume of it in paperback pocketbook. The problem is, I cannot find time to read it. I get lazy just looking how thick it is. I wish I have the enthusiasm I had years before, when I couldn't stop reading and just spend so many hours reading pocketbooks.

I haven't lost that enthusiasm yet, although I admit that I don't have the luxury of time anymore. The book is thick with several short stories, although the novels are fairly short too. 1 novel can be read in about 3-4 hours

I have loved Sherlock Holmes since I was a kid. I think what I like most is the setting, the foggy London with cabs and pickpockets and gentlemen... And all little details. And the personality of Sherlock Holmes too. When my children were small I used to retell some of the stories to them, translating and changing things so it became more suitable for them. Have you seen the tv series where Sherlock Holmes is moved to our time?

Haven't seen any. Not even the movies. I'm not a fan of movies, especially those whose plots are based from books. I find them disappointing. :(
