I am 27 years old. There is no passion for me to watch movies in a theatre, except for the demanding of my girlfriend. If there is a movie which attracted most of the people, I will considering watching it in my computer. Why am I lack of the passion? Am I too old? or something else? share your views. What is the difference between watching in a movie theatre and on the computer?

Most of time is wasted on the computer by us. It is time to form a good habit to go out once in a week.

I seldom watch movies in a theatre not because I have movies on TV. It is the quality of the movies itself that makes me lose my interest. Besides, I am not a movie goer, you know.

Yes, I think most of the people just like the feeling of the movie theatre, not the quality of the movie. I am not a movie goer, too.

i would prefer and enjoy to watch a movie in the theater because of the big screen and the surround sound, we can really feel it watching in the cinema. i think every person has a different way of feeling and doing things. some like to watch movies in the cinema, some prefer on tv, or on the computer so it just depends on a person. i can watch it in a computer if i have a dvd of a favorite movie but for new movies, just for fun, i would love to be able to watch it on the big screen.

It is the convinient way to have the new movie in the cinema. I agree with you that every person has a different way of feeling. Some like the quiet surrounding to watch on the computer in his own home. The others prefer to watching it in the cineta, so they can enjoy themselves with the big screen and share the response with other audience.

It is really different from watching movies in the theater houses than at home. But since movies were all available in DVD's then there's no reason from going to the movie houses. But then, there comes the 3D movies that it is a new innovation for us to patronize movie houses again. Just after 3 years of not going to the movie houses, I as compelled to do in now since most of the new releases movies were shown in 3D formatt. Now, I'm back in theater houses just to watch the exciting 3D movies. The new ambiance of watching 3D movies brought theaters back to life.

I think it boils down to how you take the art form. If it is just a simple past time for you, then you probably won't be interested to see it in a theater. For me, movie is more than just a past time activity. I learn a lot about movies. And to be honest, I think that a lot of the technical aspects of a movie is lost when watched only in a computer. I'm not trying to be an idealist, but movies are product of hard work of hundreds, maybe even thousands of people, not only by the director and cast. I think that movies made with passion and love are worth seeing in a theater. If you are a writer, you would hope that your reader would read your message from top to bottom, and not just the title, the beginning, or the end. That is the same with watching a movie in a computer. Not only that, there are other people who actually go to the theater merely for the experience of seeing the movie with an audience. Theater is much more immersive than a computer screen. That in itself makes the experience different. I hope that you see past the popcorn value of movies and see it more than just a date.

I appreciate you for the ideas. I post this discussion just for a simple commynication with Mylotters, but I benefit a lot from your advice. It is really true that a movie is product of hard work of thousands of people. Especially the classical movies are full of passion and love. I should pay more attention on the different aspects of the movies, not just hte beginning and end. Thanks for your special response that really activate my girlfriend and I.

Whatever you say, the sound effects and visual effects are entirely different, when you watch a movie in a theatre. For example you just imagine watching Avatar movie in a theatre and in a computer. I do not think the watching in computer will give that much excitement and happiness that we get in a theatre. My vote is for theatre.

The theatre will get more votes for these 3D movies like Avatar. When the Avatar is showing in the theatre, it is very hard to get a 3D ticket.

This is just my opinion, but with the availabilty of movies on computers and DVDs that you can watch in your own home for a lot less money than you would pay in the theatre, why go out? I have always found it to be quite uncomfortable sitting with lots of other people who may get in the way of my view, perhaps talk and it cannot be paused if you need to take a bathroom break. I haven't been to a theatre of around 20 years. The last movie I saw was the first Jurassic Park.. _Derek

i also wont watch movies in theatre much. i use to watch in my pc. the major difference in watching movie in pc and theatre is that in theatre its nice when we are in group that is with friends and family but most of the when they are busy it realy boring to watch films in theatre. at that time (when we r single) its nice to watch movies in pc or tv.

Your opinion is so reasonable. There are two different ways to watch a movie, depending on the number of your group.

I am not really interested on watching movies in a theater. I am not a movie goer actually. But sometimes, I do watch with my girlfriend for a date. I guess it is also a good way to relax yourself from stress. The good thing about watching in a theater is you will enjoy more watching the movie because there are many people watching with you. Happy mylotting!

Yes, I am still interested in watching movies in theaters. Watching movies on the computer is definitely not the same experience as in the theaters. I don't go to theaters to watch every single movie but ones that I find interesting or have heard/read good reviews on....

I am also 27 and also am no longer overly interested in going to the cinema to watch movies. I far prefer the comfort of my own home. Sometimes, for certain blockbusters that will look far more epic on a big screen, I might go, but as money is tight at the moment, we don't go very often.

The same situation with you. The cost of the ticket is not worthy compared with the comfort of our own home.

I am not very interested inwatching a movies in a cinema. First, today it is much more expensive to buy the movie tickets. Second, the time is not convenient for me to go to see a movie since I have to take care of my son at night and I need to go to work in daytime. But tomorrow my son and I will go to see the movie together. As my sister-in-law gave me two tickets:) I love China

Some people like to go to the theatre and some don´t care about it: it´s a matter of liking and has nothing to do with age. I have always liked to see movies at the theatre as you can concentrate more and besides the screen is a lot bigger. But I like to watch movies in the first place. Maybe you only watch them because your GF likes it.

Yes,i do really find it exciting to watch nice movies in a theater, especially on big screens! Not to mention about the fun watching it with friends! However, it isn't a necessity for me on contrary to the days it used to be!I'll make sure that i watch my favorite ones in theaters.Movies are way more better when watched in theater than in a computer.Great day.

no, i just watch them online. there are movies worth watching in the big screen but between the time you spend on work and family, there's just little time left for watching movies in theater. besides, you can still have a movie date with your family in your living room. the screen may be way smaller but it's a less expensive way to spend time with family.

You can watch the movie with your family together. They are not conflicting. Of course, it is a less expensive way to spend time with family at home.

I do not go to the movies anymore. They are too expensive and I do not see the point in paying so much when I can buy them for half the price most of the time! Why waste money? Thats how I look at it...I would rather watch a movie at home.

Maybe the price of movie ticket is a barrier for you, and you can have a try when you can buy them for half. My attitude has been changed by the discussion above. LOL
