This morning there was a followup to a news story about a 12 year old found wandering around a neighborhood, naked and alone, digging in trash cans for food. It turns out she belonged to a woman who was working as AN AIDE AT A SCHOOL and she had left her daughter in the car and taken away her clothes to prevent her from getting out of the car!!!
Now... I want to know why this 12 year old girl was not in school herself, properly clothed, with enough to eat. Obviously MOM felt it was important to go to work at her job, helping out other children in the classroom while she neglects her own daughter severely and compromises her health and education?!
Oh, and to top that off, this follows shortly on the heels of at least 3 other local incidents of presumed abuse and molestation of children by teachers in various schools, one of them spanning several decades. This teacher was JUST recently arrested and fired! JUST RECENTLY.
Disturbing, isn't it? If it's that easy, it shouldn't be!!!

Wow that is very disturbing. Isn't it against the law not to have children in school at that age in the first place? On top of that why not leave the child at home or did she live in the car? This mother is a flipping school aide.. what if someone rode past the car? I hope they give that little girl a good home and take her away from her mother.
The worst cases in my opinion of students with teachers are high school students with teachers. In fact in my old high school, a teacher married a student after having an affair with her during her high school years. Another thing was any female could get away with not making up gym class completely by just showing up in super short shorts. Don't even ask about bikinis and how every male teacher wanted to 'help' the girls learn how to swim. The student teachers were the worst considering most were only 21 or 22 since they had to do student teaching to graduate.
Its disgusting. They do the same in middle schools as well. In middle and elementary school, they should have to go through rigorous background screenings. Checking their behaviors in college or interviewing friends shouldn't be above questioning. For high school students it gets complicated sadly...
If the legal age of consent is 16 in the place, then a teacher going after a student is only wrong by the moral standard of being a teacher. Thats it. They may get in trouble but its legal for male or female teachers to be with people that young. In my opinion its disgusting and I am the age some of those teachers were being 24. I do not understand why adults go after children.
So yeah ANYONE can be a teacher and ANYONE can work with your kids...

the irony of working for education of children is one biggest challenge for workers. workers are trying to live up to the standards that they like to impart to the children. the news cited here is indeed a disgrace to the workers of education sector. it is full of irony. particularly those teachers who committed crimes against children.

That is so terrible. She must have been starved for her to go as far as getting out of the car and eating out of garbage cans. I hope this woman is arrested for doing this to her child. I am so saddened for this 12 year old girl. How can someone go to work teaching other kids yet neglect their own kids so badly.
I know that here you dont have to go to school for teaching as long as you have a business degree or bachelors degree or whatever in ANYTHING you can go on and get a position as a teacher. To me that isnt good.

I think that is true where I live as well. If I was to get my Bachelor's in Accounting I could teach a high school economics course I believe. I would just have to get the clearances for it and not really any formal teacher training. It would be the same for a Ph.D in Accounting to work at a college. They should have it to where you have to go for teaching to teach but so many places claim you learn soooo much better to be an expert in the field rather than know how to teach it.

See and I think that is just terrible. They need to go through formal training to learn how to teach students and deal with problems that arise. They need to learn patience and some of child psychology to understand how to be a good teacher. Just because they know math well doesnt make them the right material to teach a math class to kids you know.

It really makes a person wish the schools supplied parents with credentials of the teachers as well as yearly background checks. Sadly, all we can do is hope our kids are in good hands and for them to know when something is wrong and to tell you.

It really bothers me when things like this go on for several reasons...
The first because she is a mother and mother's are not supposed to treat their children this way. She is a horrible mother. Things like this make other mother's look bad. It makes it look like parents cannot properly do their jobs and that is just not always true.
The second reason is because it makes ALL teachers look bad too! As a teacher you are supposed to care for and teach children. If you don't, you have NO business being at a school.
The third thing that bothers me is she was a teacher, her child was not in school like she should have been and the poor girl is starving?? CRAZY! What is she working for if she is not feeding her child?? And then having her take her clothes off!!! That child must have been mortified!!
It is also sad to me that some people (like me) want to work with children soooo bad because we truly love children and they make it pretty difficult for us (sane people) but the crazy ones somehow have NO problem teaching! What in the world?!?

Its stories like these that make me want to homeschool my kids! Something needs to be done about this woman, she should be arrested for abused, neglect, abandonment. I know that times are tough, but this is inexcusable. It shouldn't be this easy to become a teacher, things need to change.

It is disturbing. This is the first time ever I heard a mother took off her 12 years old daughter's clothes so she stay in the car while she went to work, worst at school. The poor girl must be really starving to seek food, even being naked at that time. I can't imagine such thing. I really feel sorry for her.

It can be anyone.
