After a while in mylot i learned that it is useless to response on discussion that has possibility to be removed when we know the topis is violating mylot guidelines. Im just curious, i usually just ignore those post, i dont even report those post coz i think it is just not worth it to get involve at all with those kind of post. Can someone help me to understand more clearly here? WHat is the benefits of reporting those people who violate guidelines?

lyssa, I have no idea about it. It's good of you to warn mylotters regarding guidelines. How's that hand of yours going now?

I'll have to have a look at first. If I think I can do it, I will try it. I hope it'll get better soon. I mean your hand.

I don't police anyone here. If someone uses derogatory, insulting, language full of racial slurs or ethic or religious slurs, I would if I saw the post. As far as the other ones which violate the ts and cs, it seems as if myLot does a pretty good job of finding them out on it's own. The benefits of reporting those who violate the guidelines of polite discourse and being reasonably nice, on the other hand, extends across the whole myLot community. I have disagreed with many discussions started here - but I have never called someone a name, or insulted a person's race, religion, or ethnic background. I might disagree with Christian fundamentalists and their standards and such - and will tell them - but I do not use foul language or directly insult them - it's a simple disagreement over issues. What I don't like are those who lower your rating due to disagreements.

We are asked in the Guidelines to help out by reporting aby abuse and ' myLot does a pretty good job of finding them ' because there are many users who do help out and report whenever they see something that should not be part of the discussions. If a user is violating the Guidelines then they are abusing myLot and should be reported. It is not necessary to respond or comment on a discussion if you feel it needs reporting. Just use the '!' icon to point it out to admin and he will decide whether it should be removed or can stay.

i totally agreed with you. that's why i avoid to participate on discussion that i dont disagree.. it is more likely to get ratings decrease that way..

When we register here it is our moral responsibility to see that we have a site that is not cluttered with stuff that is considered guidelines violations. So if you come across anything that you definitely know is a guideline violation you will be playing the role of a good user here by reporting it. What we lose by way of cents is smithereens compared to the clean site that we will have if all of us rally round and contribute towards it.

A satisfaction, indeed :p Some people just love to wander around and warn people for violating the guidelines :p That is not a bad thing to be done, though. I wish people will take the warn seriously, so there would be less spam in myLot.. And nope, you will not benefit financially if you are reporting people. You just help this community to grow better. And I found it as a good thing to do..
