Will God Choose Justice or Compassion?

I remember my professor in Philosophy class. He said God cannot be just and compassion at the same time. When we die, will God be compassionate? Forgive our sins and let us enter heaven? If this is the case, there will be no justice. Or will God be just? Good people enter heaven, bad people go to hell. If this is the case, then there is compasson. Is there no forgivness? What do you think?

Heaven & Hell aren't places; they're 'states-of-mind' (or states-of-being, six vs. half-a-dozen). Part of each person goes to hell, and there is either destroyed or purified.

I do get the point, i think our God is a very compassionate and forgiving God and He always forgives people eventhough how sinful a person could be. But I think as what is being mentioned in masses, people should also repent on their sins so that they would be forgiven. I guess those people who usually go to hell are the ones who didn't repent on their sins.

Depends on your definition of justice and what God has said and instructed. He set up the rules..you follow them.. you will go to heaven. You break the rules...you don't get in. Plain and simple. I think the Justice issue is something "man made' A way to "get away with" something that you know God would not approve of, but since you think it is justifiable..it is okay. MIght be okay on man's earth, but not in God's heaven. Even compassion could be the same way... if you do the right thing, you don't need any compassion. You only need compassion when things go wrong..well, why'd they go wrong? Who did what wrong to cause it? Things like that. He will also forgive you of your sins...but you have to get the forgiveness and then do right and don't sin again and all that...follow the rules and you will go to heaven. one problem is that people these days, think they can do whatever they want as long as they are in church on sunday morning and act christianly that day. God is not a "sunday kind of guy" ...he wants your loyalties all week long and expects you would want to give them to him. Do it right and you won't have to worry about justic or compassion. You'll have GOd's approval for heaven!

On the surface this is a difficult question. But really, the answer is simple. Took me a whole day to realize something: Whether God is just or compassionate, it is already done-- salvation, that is. He already sent His Only Son so that we could be saved from sins. Even before we were born, our salvation has been given to us. What's left for us to do is take that salvation and free ourselves from the only barrier that keeps us apart from God-- our very own selves. For as long as we don't acknowledge this, we remain ever doubtful of our fate-- we bar ourselves from God. But as soon as we realize and acknowledge what JC did for us so that we can be saved, we accept the salvation in our hearts, and you all know where the saved ones go.
