Seller Ratings

I am looking to buy something for my kids and I was noticing that another seller on Amazon was selling the same item for a smidge cheaper in price and it appeared the shipping was free w/o it being "super saver". However the rating is 98 which I guess is probably a good rating they only had one negative rating in the past several months. Eitherway, aside from price on something what rating would you consider too low to consider purchasing a product from or bid on an auction?

I practically live on Amazon!!! I consider a 98 a pretty good rating. I usually buy from those 95 & above. However, if it's something I really want or it's a really good deal, I will consider as low as 85. I also look at the number of sells they've had in the last year. To me someone who sold 500,000 items with a 98% is much better than somebody who only sold say 50 with a 98%. I figure if you can keep a 98% rating by pleasing a half million people, you're pretty efficient!!! I also look to see what state they're from...opting to buy from somebody shipping from a state fairly close to mine simply because I'll probably receive it fairly fast without paying any extra shipping!!! If you're really concerned, you can look at the reviews on that seller & see what everybody had to say about them. I have one shipper that I like so much that he could charge $5.00 more & I'd probably still buy from him!!! That's more a peace-of-mind thing as I know he is a reputable shipper that ships fast & has a GREAT customer service!!!
With what you described, I can pretty confidently say that I would buy from your shipper!!!

Only problem is the seller only had one item last night and I need two. But I will say I hate that the prices fluxuate so much on Amazon, today they are $2-3 cheaper than they were last night. Only problem I've never used this product so it'll take 5 to get supersaver shipping but I only want 2 right now... oh so frustraiting.

I like shopping at Amazon because the prices are great and sometimes I get free gift certificates for them. I always look at the ratings and read the reviews before deciding to buy. A 98 percent rating is good. I only buy from those who rate 85 or higher. I did once buy from someone who rated 84 percent and still did well.

Well that was in part why I was going to look at Amazon because there is such a vast variety of things and of course the gift certificates I've earned online certainly do influence my decision to shop there.

below 90%.just too risky for my money.
there could be some good people with screwed ratings, but i'd rather not take the chance.

Sadly, I don't pay enough attention until it's too late.

It would actually depend on the volume that the seller was doing. If they haven't done a high volume of transactions, then I would be more willing to accept a slightly lower seller rating than I would for a person that does a high volume of transactions. The reason that I say that is because of the fact that if you have a lower volume, it is more likely that there was a buyer that was being vengeful than if you are doing a high volume of transactions.

I think it would depend on how expensive the item was. I would be able to risk a lower rating if it was something small but not on something expensive like electronics.
In the 90s I'm definitely fine with. I can accept that they might have encountered one or two really particular customers, or something unforeseen may have occurred. Anything lower than that and I would think about it more.

I would say that a rating below 75 would turn me off from buying their items. I'd be reading the reviews of the seller if I could, and then I'd have to really weigh whether I wanted to risk it or not. I would much prefer a reating of 85 and over, because I do understand a few bad reviews, but more then say three, I'd be wondering how they are even still selling things to begin with.
