Winter is over; the woolen clothes are no more needed, so we kept them back for next year. In my home we have the following winter clothes of pure wool, not the synthetic poly-acrylic; they are blankets, shawls, scarfs, monkey caps, mufflers, sweaters etc., some are colored. Here are some tips, I follow; this might be helpful hence sharing.
They should be washed by hand, using luke warm water and soda-less soaps, I use ‘Easy’ detergent, it is specially for woolens. I never wash woolens in washing machines; if heavy I give for dry cleaning.
I never use any bleaching agent for woolens and wash the white and colored separately.
I never squeeze woolens, just hang in shade, for sweaters I use shirt hangers, this keeps the shape.
I don’t use hard brush for rubbing the woolens, if necessary just rub using fingers.
After they are dry, I keep inside them, (some keep, dry neem leaves, dry eucalyptus leave, dry tobacco leaves inside them), fold, keep inside polythene bags, seal the mouth and keep in a box we have for woolens only
.
So how you care for the woolens after winter is over.
Hope you find my tips useful.
Please respond, share yours.

Washing woolen cloths are so easy and we don't need even washing machine for the same. I do wash it very often by hand wash. However, the winter is still here so I have not started to pack up the winter cloths. I think cool weather will be here until Holi. Once the weather becomes warm it is easy to dry the winter cloths and I feel easy to do that works. I feel happy once it is packed and the reason is, the winter cloths are consuming much space in rooms especially when there is kids, they need more dress. Once it is packed there is enough space available. So just waiting to end the season.

I think that these are great tips for those people that have pure woolen items in their closets. However, for me, I don't own any pure woolen items for two different reasons, first of all they are much more costly than the synthetic materials. The other reason that we don't have any woolen items is because of the fact that they are itchy in my opinion.
With my sweaters, however, I do machine wash them on gentle and then I will hang them to dry to prevent any shrinkage.

Pure wool are usually eaten by insects too, synthetics are better in that respect, needs less care.
Happy posting, cheers.
