I want to know if there is any content management system used for maintaining music websites n portals. Is indexing the files into sql databases necessary? How to index the files that way? Is there any script that does it and how to catogorize the files into lists like "Latest Additions" "Most popular" and other types? Would be grateful if anyone can help me on this. Thank you..

The best cms in my opinion will always be Joomla. It offers a variety of different options for every possible genre of website. You can import existing sql databases into it (it uses mysql and phpmyadmin to administrate). Indexing your db isn't necessary but it all really depends on personal preference. I like my databases organized so I can clearly find information, but it also depends on how many entries you have. Hope I helped!

What type of website are u running on joomla? I have come across a music website that uses joomla till now. Im looking for a cms that indexes files into databases with their download link.. so that users can find them from the search boz and download. To be more specific, my sql database table must contain fields like "Track name", "Artist name", "Year" and "Link" etc.. so the user can query using the track name/Artist name/Year of the songs and download them with the link returned from the database. Hope this gives more details on my requirement.
