hey mylotter , i wanted to share my views on long discussion.i am kind of person who responds other discussion more and rarely start a discussion ,and when i open any discussion of interest then if the discussion is in about 4-6 lines i read that otherwise i just respond according with the subject line, because i feel bore to read discussion about more than 10 line in it.how you respond to discussion?

Well then please don't come to my discussions, because I hate when people just read the title and will often make the title tricky so you must read the discussion. I can sympathize though as there are days I am just not feeling reading a longer discussion, reply or comment.

I'm with you on this one. I'm starting to try to make the titles more cryptic on my threads as I've noticed one or two simply reading titles on discussions and responding to those instead of what the actual discussion is about. I find that somewhat disrespectful. I also understand the longer discussion end of it though, sometimes I'll look, realise how tired I am and skip to a shorter one, I daresay we're all guilty of it at one point or another lol

well i think you misunderstand me because i am not saying that i respond to every discussion, and before responding to any discussion subject lines helps us a lot to understand the discussion.i take care of that what i am going to respond and it is true that sometimes i am not going to read whole post i just filter the main things from the post so that i can understand the post.and if it is interesting then i respond otherwise not.

Of course everyone can have his own preference but I feel that if you really want to respond to a discussion, it is a courtesy to read all that is written by the person who started the discussion to really understand what the discussion is all about(mylot asks us even to read first the responses before we reply). It is bad when someone misunderstood and just posted something irrelevant. For our own reputation sake, and for earning respects from our friends here, if anyone bores to read, then it is better not to respond.

Yes even i like brief posts . It saves a lot of time. But when the subject lines are not so clear then its better to read the post or atleast understand what it means so that you dont reply differently from the topic

vt -- welcome to mylot. I also like brief posts. But in mylot they expect people to write more. As you say discussions running to 5 to 6 lines is interesting and they get more responses. But some members put lengthy (30 lines) discussions. there are takers for that also.

I don't like long posts too. They are boring and takes too long to read and iritates me especially whenever I want to respons fast. I don't like reading too long discussions. It must be summarized if it's a story.

Sometimes long discussions bore me too. But that always depends... there were a lot of discussions here that are long but very interesting. So if a long discussion caught my attention then I would finish off reading it and reply on it. I just don't like replying according to the subject line, and I won't like it when people do it on my discussion. Sometimes those kinds of myLotter thinks they can earn a lot just by doing such.

vt689 58 6hi your long avatar bores me lol lol If I am n terested in the discussion the length of it does not matter to me. unlike 80 percent of you young people I am seldom bored as life has so much to chose from. there are many many discussions and if you like brief there are inane silly one liners but they are not paid much and are often deleted too so you will lose your response.I do not care so much about length as about content. if its five lines of crap I just bypass it.What I look for in discussions are ones that draw me in and interest me so I can contribute something. four lines about a sports that I know nothing about and care less for I bypass quickly.Sounds to me like you are more lazy than bored

I wouldn't mind reading long posts as long as the subject matters interests me. That's basically why I respond to posts. I mean, I don't see the point in reading worded topics if they don't interest you. And I don't think I would respond if I only read a portion of the post since I might misunderstand what was said and I'd make a wrong comment.

That's what I feel when I was new in here. I don't understand stuffs, I sometimes laugh at people's discussion because I find it too odd and the long ones, I'm too lazy to read 'em not until recently. As I get to know more people here, I wasn't afraid to start discussion anymore. I write what I feel and ask for their advices. And you know what? That feels good that there are some people out there understands what you feel through what you write. myLot has been like an open diary/book of my life... I admit, I, myself do sometimes write long discussions. It feels good if I feel weary and down. So, I hope you now understand why some people here do post long discussions. Try to read the whole content so you understand them and you may find it interesting! :)

i agree i get bored with long posts so when i post a discussion or a reply to a discussion i usually keep it to about two or three lines maybe thats why my earnings are pretty low.
