Yeap, looks like it according to this year-old news article down in the United States. I wonder if the same thing holds true here in Canada? I was wikipedia-ing Cinnamon buns to find out the origins and basic ingrediants, then it mentioned honey buns in American jails. LOL I did laugh but became intrigued with the idea of the sugary sweet bread actually replacing illegal substances the immates couldn't obtain anymore, so they became addicted to the honey buns. So addicted it's actual currency and the inmates even kill each other for them! That is the most strangest thing I've ever heard in a long time. http://www.tampabay.com/features/humaninterest/honey-buns-sweeten-life-for-florida-prisoners/1142687 I wonder if any of you Americans have heard of this trend?

And to think "honey bun" is a term of endearment over here though very rarely used, I hasten to add! Thanks for the link, it was most entertaining!

Yes, that article is very entertaining, for sure, as well as giving us an insight of the mentality inside the prison. I find it fascinating. Here in North America we call each other honey in terms of endearment. It is used a lot actually, hehe.

Do you add the "bun" at the end though?

I haven't had them myself but the article says with the plain cafeteria the inmates get the buns seem like a decadent treat - luxury treat, more like it. Kinda like our luxurious gourmet ice cream or cheesecake in a fancy resturaunt type thing. Given my sweet tooth and infatuation with anything culinary, I'd probably latch myself on to them as well.
