I got another NEW job!!

Australia

Ok, so I posted last night that I was cleaning but was looking to get a new job...I almost threw out the application but decided to write it & handed it in on monday...I got the call today that I got the job...I will be a school crossing supervisor (or lollipop lady for a school in laymen terms)...it will be at the same school where my daughter goes...it's great because this means that I have the hours I want to work as well as being able to have the school holidays free to be with my daughter. Now i am up in the air as to when I should quit my cleaning job as I am waiting to hear when my medical will be as I need to do that & have a police check done before I can start... 2 hobs in the space of 4 weeks...has this ever happened to you?

Yeah I put in applications at Starbucks and Burger King have not heard nothing back yet. All the work I look for will have to be walking distance because I don't drive.

I went about addition cleaning job otday and as from next tuesday I will have an extra two hours cleaning each week. Great as it is a private job and that means I get ot keep the money for myself. Good! I also had an interview the day before yesterday, but failed at last, but never mind as I didn't lose my current job, you can always get some opportunities if you are capable enough

Sorry to hear you didn't get the other job but the main thing is that you are still employed!

Congratulations! Your success makes me think I can find a second job, too. Seeing your daughter on all of the school holidays is definitely a plus! It's so hard to take time off of work for those with another employer. Keep smilin' Lolly pop Lady, and you'll keep us smilin', too!:)

That is great that you found a job that works better around your daughter's school hours and days. I would wait until you get all the clearance before you quit the other job. Can you do the cleaning job in between the crossing guard job? Maybe you can keep both. I wish you the best of luck.

Unfortunately, I can't do the cleaning job in between as i need to be at the school at 2 separate lunch times for the crossing.

Congrats and i can imagine how excited you are as you can enjoy your daughter's company as well. However, i have always felt working in school is a relief than working in corporates/ typical 9-5 job. Best of luck to you & your daughter too.

congrats for you!I've been looking for a job for a few month, it's not that i can't fine a job, but i had turned down many oppurtunity that came to me, because I thought it's not what I want. So I keep looking and hanging out there for a long time. Now stay unemployed, it makes me feel a little regret about turning down job offer before. maybe i should just take whatever comes to me!

Thanks...if I were you, i would take the first offer that came my way but if I didn't like the job, i would keep looking in the meantime for another job...at least that way, you still have a job.
