My 4yr old has been driving me nuts since lunch. He keeps saying he's hot. I say take of your shirt he just keeps wailing. I'm sure he's tired more than anything since he's started napping again. But you know the bathtub will start to get cool after a bit and he'll say "add more cold it's hot" HUH? I have the thermostat turned down and that's all I can think of is he's thinking the opposite? I just sent him to his room hoping he's just tired and he'd calm down.

hi 3SnuggleBunnies I know this is silly to ask but did you take his temperature as my son when he was that age got so sick just all of a sudden and all he seemed to complain about was he was so hot. I checked his temp.onehundred four. Our doctor at that imne lived in this clinic just up the street. I took him to his doctor and he had a strept throat. So with antibiotics and ice cream and cool things for his very sore throat he got well pretty quickly. but he sure ran a fever so quickly. But it could be he is just plain tired.
a nice nap might be the thing to make him a happy camper again.

I think he was just tired he did cry it out in his room and fell asleep and has been right as rain since he got up.
He did not look red, he didn't feel warm either and he's started taking naps again on and off the past few weeks.

I think that there are times that young children will get confused about things and they will say the opposite of what they actually mean to say. I know that my son, who is five years old, will do that from time to time. Of course, with the kind of weather that we've been having, that is something that is really easy to do.
We've had 60 degree plus days, followed by a day with a four inch snowfall and then some more 60 degree plus days.

My nephew used to do things like that at his age. Some children know what temperature recognition is at his age, my brother and I did because we go sick a lot, but some children don't know it or understand it, unless you really teach it to them. My mother was old school. She used to use the water method. She would use cold water with us at first, then warm water, she never really used hot water because, of course, she knew that it burns. You have to just think of many ways and strategies to use to teach them hot from cold and warm.

If mine was doing this for a few days I'd take him to the doctor, I think. If he'd stopped napping for at least a couple weeks that would alarm me, too. Kids that young usually need naps and then to get sleepy again all of a sudden, that would scare me. The fact that he feels hot could mean something wrong with his body's temperature regulation.
Then again, it could be nothing. I'd take him to the doctor if it was my child or at least call and talk to a nurse. If you're insured, the company probably has a nursing line you can call use for free.
