what is the purpose of the mylot search engine??????

From what I know a search engine enables you to look up topic,words,news or people of interests etc etc. I just typed in the word "omit" to ensure that the spelling was correct and "Whitney Houston" and the search engine couldnt come up with anything for either. So what exactly are we using the search engine to look for????
