As you already experienced the economic impact, it has brunt on all aspect of generations, from the young generation to the older generation. Especially those older generation, some of them lucky enough to still have social security to help them; others, they either on the bankruptcy process, or they choose to postpone their retirement. Many might not have enough for live the lifestyle they always dream they go retired, so delay their retirement plan is a must. From this experience, and this lesson, we should know better a saving for rainy day is a must, and whether we are in a good economic situation, or we still struggling for debt, don't forget to plan out a saving on the side.

I honestly don't think many people can afford to retire anymore. With the cost of living constantly rising and our incomes are not people have to continue to work. I know many people at my work who are retired but continue to work to either pay insurance or suppliment their income. Plus, I also know many people who've gotten ill once they stopped working and passed away faster than someone who remains active in the workforce. But of course seniors in the workforce then hang onto jobs longer and keep opportunities from others who need a job as well. Also there are more baby boomers then there are in current generations, so as they finally retire perhaps uemployment will start to fall?

Lots of people here in america are suffering with debt. And believe me it's more then you know. This country should be ashamed of itself for letting it get this bad. This is not something that just happened in the last few years. This has been snowballing for the last 50 years. It's just now that we are feeling the impact. It's all the presidents past that ruined the economy. And I am not talking about Obama. He inherited all these problems.

I agree, it is hard to imagine a grandfather working with his grandaughter/son just because he wants to save some money for retirement. It make sense if we can start saving early or sooner when we start working.
