Poor me because till now, since my childhood, I only used to swim in the river.. Never got a chance for an outing to nearby provinces that have beaches and even though I've got invited several times by friends and troups, my parents had never allowed me to go saying you could be lost, blah blah..I've studied and lived in the cordillera during my elementary and highshool years and got settled in the valley of cagayan in the province of NV for not quite a-long-a-time back but still, a mountainous province, have never seen a rolling plane lying over plain land, cold with lots of trees, etc.. We do gimmicks under teeming trees, sing and shout as loud as we can, and a whole lot more. I am just wondering if you can just tell me how to swim in the ocean.. will I be lost with its wide and deep water? will I be choking if I inhaled and swallowed its salty water? I might be drowned! I am so sorry for my innosence...

hi there, i am not a big fan of swimming on the beach or rivers. i usually just swim in the pool. but when i go swimming on the beach, i then stay at the shore then take some very very fine sand and use it to scrub my skin hehehe i just don't like it sometimes because the salt water hurts my eyes. as for the rivers, i only got to swim in a river once, and i was so scared because i could not see what is down there. the water is not clear unlike in the beaches. i would probably not do that again heheheh but the water is better because it is not salt water, it is fresh water so it does not sting. i would still go for the beaches.

Hello sabado... Well you are lucky because you used to swim in the river. I never swim in the river nor ocean. I always swim in the pool side. When I go to the beach, I am afraid to swim in the ocean because it is too wide and the waves make my legs get limp. But I know one clear difference between swimming in the river and ocean, the water in the ocean is salty

hi zaahro, it's cool to swim in the river because it is not necessary, at least for me, to rewash our body with sweet water after swimming. i just wrap the towel through my waist when i get off, walk trough home allowing the remaining water to fall off from my body...the river is clean and clear and just a walking distance from my home. i can teach you how to swim - i've mastered it. would you allow me to teach you?

Really? Sounds interesting :) I don't have any river near my house so I just can swim in the pool side. I can swim only in the swimming pool. Aww, it's very nice of you. Haha

As a competitive swimmer myself, ican tell there is a great different between swimming in river and ocean. It is a lot harder to swim in ocean because of the salty taste, under current and wave. The only time it become hard to swim in river is when you are swimming up stream against the flow or get caught up in a rapid, that is where you need skill and strength to stay afloat.

dear bro, I've learned to swim from the pool and not from a river or ocean which is far different from those natural form of water. River flows and seas has waves- while pool is just a step away from a pond with stagnant water. Although swimming pool water is not stagnant- but the water form is almost the same like of a pond. I am a bit scared when it comes to swimming on beaches. The waves scares me that I might be thrown in the middle. I like swimming at the river, with water falls I thought you are near those beautiful beaches that I want to spend a summer

yes, there's a lot of difference. the ocean is surely a vast sea you get drown there.:) The beach is more fun to swim than the river I guess. In the beach you can play in there because it's wide. In the river, however, the area is limited. But you see the beauty of the forest though that's the advantage of it.

the beauty of the forest plus there are some other things that are better done, i think, in the river when it comes to privacy or something like that... hehehe

Hi there! As it happens I have experience both. The sea is more of a salt water so it is salty, but compare to the river you will float better at sea. It may be deep at times and the waves might be strong but you'll be able to handle it later. It is a matter of getting used to it and it is not all the time that the sea wild except for some places. Yes you can also choked if you accidentally inhaled, swallowed salty water. Compare to the river, salty water has a more irritating effect on your throat if that happens. Aside from that there is no much difference, I have experience taking a bath in a river but never the swimming because I am afraid of the strong current.Hope it helps!

Well, you might choke if water passes through your nose, regardless if it's seawater or fresh water, but salt water can be a bit stingful. And drinking too much seawater will somewhat result in dehydration. It has something to do with our kidneys and our body needing large amount of water just to flush out the salt. Usually the current near the beach moves in two direction - inland and seaward. So it kind of pulls you towards the beach or pulls you towards the deeper part of the sea. Rivers generally have a downward current but I don't know which is easier to swim at. I think it's harder to swim in rivers than in oceans. But in both bodies of water, people could still drown if you're not careful.

In my case I am not that so good in terms of swimming in ocean. I am totally envy with those people who can jump, dive and swim under the ocean. I can't breathe under water that is why I don't even know how to swim in terms of ocean. Though what I am doing there is just to enjoy the waves of the ocean. If there is no wave then that is the time that I can do the swimming routine. You know in ocean you still have the choice on where to swim if that should be deep or not. Don't ever force yourself to swim in a deep wherein you don't know how to swim.

the difference between river and sea is that sea is salty...thats why swimming in sea is much is quite hard because if you have inhaled some water it is very iritating in the nose...i hate that feeling when you have inhaled some sea water.......

I am not a good swimmer so whether it's a river, ocean or a pool I will just be near the shore or just on the sides of the pool. LoL! But yeah ocean water are salty compared to river and you might choke when it gets inside your nose. When you get older I am sure that you will be able to experience swimming in the ocean.
