Some people are a piece of work

So there's a guy who lives in our town home community who has this big dog that he just lets run wild. It actually knocked me down when I was pregnant and then he got up in my face about it, telling me I should have been more careful. He's caused us a lot of problems actually. Well, today I was checking the mail and I had the baby in her ergo carrier, and the dog came charging towards us. Another one of the people who lives nearby, a nice man who recently moved in after he left the marines, grabbed the dog by the collar and yanked him back to keep him from charging right into us. So the owner comes storming over, swearing and cursing up a storm about how his dog is special and no one is allowed to touch him. So the guy who stopped the dog asked what he was supposed to do? Let the dog charge into me and my baby? The guy's answer? Yes. I thought The ex-marine was going to hit him he looked so mad. Look, I understand your pets can be part of your family, but seriously, that's not acceptable. That dog is a terror, it's knocked down little kids, an old man, and me while pregnant, how is that acceptable behavior? I can't blame the dog for the owners poor handling, but seriously now. We've complained to the HOA several times about this dog, and police charges have been filed more than once, I'm just wondering how much more we're expected to take before some action actually takes place. What would you do in this kind of scenario?

A dog like that would not really fly right around here, I'll say that much. There are extremely strict leash laws right in here. Dogs must be on a leash at all times, unless they are in a fenced in yard. There are no exceptions to the rule, none at all. Of course, that is a benefit for dog owners at times, as there is a lot of traffic out here and dogs would get hit with cars, as people don't tend to look out for animals or children, but that is another issue. Still while some people tend to be ignorant about their pets. And obviously, this dog was not trained. Which really does enraged me to an extent. People want their pets, but they don't want to train them. I have long since maintained that there is no such thing as bad pets. Merely bad owners and this guy has "bad owner" written right all over him. At least that is what it seems to be to me. And the dog is only going to get worse. I'd see what I can do about getting the proper authorities involved.

Hi Here in ireland you would not get away with that carry on that dog would be off to the pound the laws are very strong over here and the Garda do inforce them. the sad thing is its not the dog its the owner who should be off the pound for letting the dog run wild. Take care and be safe.
