Being a newbie here on mylot, I have several questions? When should a mylot user mark a persons + or - button next to the topic created. Can you give a + when you like it. Are there limits on how many responses you can give? Replying to a subject, you may wish to go back to that topic and leave more feedback. Is this kosher?

You can only rate posts once you reach a User Rating of 100 (when you will also see how other users have rated you by the number of your 'star'). To understand how the rating system works, read the FAQs here: http://www.mylot.com/o/faq/faq17.aspx It's important to understand that you should NOT use the '-' button to say that you disagree with the person's opinion. It should only be used if the post is definitely against the spirit or rules of MyLot (in which case it is probably more appropriate to report it, using the [!] button so that Admin can decide whether it should be there at all). Always use the [+] if you think that the person has made a valuable contribution to the discussion. It is one of the ways in which the quality of a person's post is decided. For this reason, you should never 'tout' for positive ratings for yourself (it's against the Guidelines and, if you do it, your whole post is liable to be removed). As long as you make sure that every response or comment you make is of the very best quality, you should receive positive ratings from other users. A discussion is like a conversation. The more input you make to it, the better the discussion is. If it is your own discussion, you should always be able to reply to the people who respond with something more than "Thanks for responding"; if it is another person's discussion and you have something of value to add to what others have said, then by all means do so. You earn for everything you type!
