Getting aggravated with my job

Hi all, I am kind of in a slump with my job. I work for Wal Mart and have been there for almost 7 years. I just got back from my one week vacation and no sooner did I get back, I found out that our hours are getting drastically cut (I am ft) and that they don't foresee any improvement in that in the near future. To make matters worse, I got called in the office for doing my job. I waited on a customer, who wanted to price match a coupon, But the problem was that she had three of the items when the coupon stated limit one. So I went up to a supervisor, asked first and then went back to explain to that person that we will allow this once but after that it has to be coupon limit only. I even put the bags in her cart but she complained to someone that I was being rude. I was not being rude at all. I got called in the office for that because when I tried to explain to the supervisor who told me about that complaint, I was completely baffled by the complaint and maybe my words did not come out right. So now I have to be on my best performance. I hate to give up Wal Mart but may look for another job just to be on the safe side. I am at a crossroads.

I'm sorry its not going too well for you at your job. I have had a customer lie about me at my previous job and it is a terrible feeling! Thank goodness my place of employment was a lot smaller so the boss knew the customer was lying because he personally knew me better than that. Its kind of harder with a big place like walmart for your boss to know you personally like that... I would keep your job at walmart for now because at least its a paycheck but be on the look out for something better. I hope it gets better for you!

Thanks for understanding-yes I am going to keep my job, but have been diligently looking for other opportunities. I won't quit until I have something else lined up.

That sounds a bit unfair that your supervisor didnt believe you over the customer but i used to work in retail so i know what its like, they say the customer is all ways right but we know that thats not always the case. The job situation isnt the best at the moment so if you can i would stick with as you dont want to be unemployed good luck..

I think you are at a crossroad! I think you should take this recent incident, and the almost 7 years experience you have there to look for something else. Granted it's hard to look for something else. But I think your experience already gives you a 'plus' against other candidates if you find another opportunity. Goodluck!

I'm sorry your day was so cruddy. I know how it feels to have a customer lie about you before. Just try and relax and hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.

You had a bad day and I hope that does not get into your skin to carryover the next day. People can be really an rude sometimes. I would feel bad if I were in your situation because I am doing my best and have not done anything bad but still I get to be scolded :( Well, I think you just get over the experience and do your best at work. Yes you may be monitored constantly but it is harder to find new job nowadays. Do not worry, maybe it wasn't your day today but tomorrow maybe. God bless!

Hiya It sounds like you had a bad day, so just take it as that and move on. At the end of the day you seem to be enjoying what you are doing and you have been at Walmart for 7 years. Saying that there may be other jobs out there...but as they say: The grass seems always greener on the other side. And then it turns out it is not. So stick with it, enjoy it and give it your best. Hope things will get better for you.
