I live in Austin, Texas and we have a huge conference every March known as SXSW. It will begin Friday. The conference runs about two weeks and is made up of three separate festivals: technology, film and music. Over 200,000 people come in from all over the world to participate. Music is everywhere. My city becomes really chaotic and frenzied. Once it was fun but less so with the massive influx of visitors. We had a lot of problems last year because of the out of control crowds. I am holding my breath for this year.
With all the hype that I read, I am led to believe that the whole world has heard about SXSW. I am wondering if any mylotters have ever attended or know someone who has. Have you even heard about SXSW?

Hello friend,
No I haven't heard of it, but since my brother and his family live there, I'm sure they have and I will ask them about it. The problem for them at the age they are, is the crowds and mayhem. Seems like when you get over 65 years of age and in your seventies, some of these types of events are a little difficult to attend and navigate. Austin has, due to television musical shows, like Austin City Limits, been a center of many of the music industry endeavors. So, that alone without technology and film, I'm sure will bring a monster crowd. Are the films like the Sundance festival or what? Technology is a huge field, does it focus on one area, any, or all? Thanks for the discussion.

Ah, to be young again, those were the days I would have participated in any event similar to this one if I had the money. It sounds like a lot of fun, great entertainment and an opportunity to see some new and exciting innovations. Hope you can attend and have a wonderful experience. Today, I'd be the one looking for the nearest seat to watch the action and hope I didn't get in the way of the crowd.
Thanks for the response and I'm always happy to learn of events I didn't know existed.
