It's the song with the opening line "starry, starry night"..It's actually written by Sir Don McLean in 1971 as a tribute to the artist named Vincent Van Gogh- who painted "The Starry Night". The song also describe the paintings done by the artist. It's actually one of those good mellow songs you'll hear on the radio especially at night or during a Sunday afternoon. I've been infatuated with the song as of late last week after seeing it on a DVD player at my friend's house, after watching the Live video of the song, I kinda had this rush in my system, my thought suddenly said: "What a beautiful song that was!, I wish I could be able to play that on guitar, too!" Don McLean is no doubt a genius of his craft, with an all-encompassing flair. Could you just imagine how ingenious a young man he was to be able to write such a brilliant, magical song..?....

Back in college, I had been introduced to folk music done by a few artists from the '70s era. A close friend of mine who was so into that genre insisted that I listen to her collection, one of them was Don Maclean's album American Pie, and I actually love the tune and the lyrics. I thought I wasn't gonna like this type of music since I grew up listening to the late '80s early '90s music. Music writers who sing what they write are truly great musicians.
