I been a smoker since I was 16years old, I can smoke 2 packs of cigarettes a day and sometimes more. I promised my self and even made a new year resolution for the past year that when I reach 20 years old I will quit smoking for good. I tried it when I was 20 but I failed, I wasn't able to quit, I can't imagine life without cigarette. Until this day came, I got sick, I was in bed for almost a week coz of fever and flu. I wasn't able to smoke since my throat also hurt, after recovering from being sick I started smoking again but it feels nasty and smelly to the fact that I don't wanna smoke anymore coz of the bad smell of cigarettes left in my mouth. I continued for not smoking and finally I am done with cigarettes. It's been 8 months now that I haven't taste the cigarette and I can tell that I have am no longer cigarettes bestfriend

Congratulations!! I have been a smoker for about 17 years & haven't been successful in quitting yet...I hope that one day I will be successful in quitting. I am happy for you!

I've smoked for about 13, and have tried to quit a few times. I've heard that you really really have to want to quit if you are going to succeed, and I guess I'm not quite to the point that I am totally committed to do it. Congratulations, though to you for actually succeeding! I only hope I can when the time comes (even considering that is a little scary to me).

I meant to say I've smoked for 13 years--I started when I was 15--probably the dumbest decision I've ever made.

I am very happy to know that you had quit the smoking habit. I had seen only some people who quit the smoking habits and I am happy to add your name in it. Hope you will be constant at your decision you had taken.

Having the flu could really start you off to quit smoking. Your throat hurts and sometimes you feel nauseated when you take even a single puff. Top this off with the conviction to quit and you'll definitely lose this habit. And I think you've found that out already. Good job :)

Well done :0), I did stop for 3 months out of shear will power, but then had a relapse when a stress level hit the roof. Its figuring out how to lower a stress level without resorting to picking up a cig :0/ or chewing the nails. Patches burn my skin, mouth spray taste even worse, I am not heavy smoker about 4-5 a day. So it should be easy enough to quit...lol I will though i keep telling myself :0)

Welcome to mylot Lisona If I can do it I know you can too and others can too. About stress you have a point there, I am thinking of smoking too when I get stress but I never tried to smoke again to relieve my stress. Before when I was a smoker I smoke like chain when I am stressed.

Way to go! Congratulations! I smoked for approximately 20 years myself and finally was able to quit in February 2005. I do miss it sometimes and kinda enjoy getting a whiff of someone else smoking, but I've never smoked again. As a result of my 20 years of smoking, I was diagnosed with COPD and asthma, both of which are absolutely awful diseases to have to live with now, but hey, I did this to myself so now have to pay the price.
