Should a telemarketer be resposible for making the call?

I am working for this guy and this has happened a few times. He was late for the appointment that I set and he tells me to call the customer to tell him he's going to be late. Today it happened and the customer wasn't too happy. The customer asked me for his phone number and I gave it to him. I say, let him deal with it. But now, he has a nother one right after that and he's going to be late for that too.
