That means I'm dragging everything I can find for a garage sale out of every closet, drawer and room. I enjoy having garage and yard sales, but am always amazed at how much garbage I've collected between them. I honestly think I could play yard sale every day and be perfectly happy. Are you getting ready for spring? What are you doing in preparation? Cleaning closets, getting flower beds ready or some other yearly task that's made easier knowing warm days are ahead?

I just brought home some boxes to start sorting into. I love spring because I traditionally go through and dump a ton of stuff out for yard sales. I have a LOT of cleaning to do this year. People have been giving me their stuff that they don't want anymore. It's "give it to Loverbear" time. Of course I also love the money from the sales too. LOL But because of where I live I have to take the stuff to town to sell it. Which is cool in itself as I get a better range of buyers in town. Of course the house is a mess so I'm really looking forward to spring cleaning this year. I want the place clean from top to bottom. I have been buying veggie seeds like crazy too. The yard is going to look like a jungle in a few months. Of course there will be flowers and herbs too, but the biggest thing is that I have the planting bug and I need to scratch it. The only part about spring that I don't like is when the oak trees start leaking their pollen. I spend about two months in misery! I can't breathe, my throat is sore, my eyes itch, I sneeze and more. I know spring has hit here as each morning I get up, let the dogs out, and sit down for a few minutes of Khuay on my lap. This morning he was sleeping so happily on my lap when an unexpected sneeze broke loose. He jumped about three feet straight up and vanished! He finally came out of hiding a few minutes ago, with his eyes wide and his tail bushed. His whole expression is "WOW, where did that come from...did you do that????" He's avoiding my lap like it's my laps fault that I sneezed.

One of the hardiest roses I've found is the John F Kennedy rose. It is a white rose but as the bud is starting to open it's green and once it opens it turns white. I would shy away from hybrids and patents if possible. If you can find old stock that hasn't been hybridized you would have fantastic roses. The other great thing about the old stock roses is that you can start new bushes from clippings. Since roses go dormant during the winter you don't have to worry too much about them. Another thing about the patent roses is if they go into "shock" they revert to one of the roses that was used to develop the new color. I'll do some research to see if I can find some places with "Old stock" roses. I would stick to the White, Red and Yellow roses as they will withstand more than your "colored" roses. If you want to go with colored roses go for the mini ones. When you plant roses, make sure that you use B1 to prevent the shock from being moved. It helps them make super progress and they will grow like crazy and bloom sooner than those that don't get the B1 infusion. I am planning to start planting on Tuesday. Bill has a doctor's appointment and is planning to ride his motorcycle in and knowing him he will also take a nice long ride. That will give me a ton of time to plant all the seeds I've bought and saved through the winter. (I save the cantaloupe and squash seeds and let them dry out so that I can save money on prepackaged seeds.) I'll have zucchini, spaghetti and yellow squashes, cantaloupe, radishes (Bill loves radishes) pumpkins, gourds, beans, peas, and spinach. Plus a ton of flowers. I feel so lucky that the neighbors don't mind that I plant in their yard too. They're getting the flowers and some of the gourds and pumpkins. Then the lot beside them is empty so I plan to plant tons of flowers and herbs there. I have to fence the herbs as otherwise the pesky rabbits come along and eat the herbs. Last year they even ate the garlic and onion chives!!! (hope they got indigestion!! ) One day this week I need to go to town to Lowe's to buy manure. Theirs is the smelliest in the area so it is the best. It sounds odd, but I found that the worse the manure smells the better it works. Plus they have the best price on their fertilizer in the area. I'm getting a kick outta Khuay. He loves his private lap time in the morning and during that time he will snuggle up close with his paws around my upper arm, hugging it tight. Also he now is sleeping under my arm at night. I've woken up several times to find him curled up in the crook of my arm with his head on my chest.

I've told you about those lap sneezes! Poor Khuay. Until these past few years I never had the planting bug. Now the little rascal itches like crazy. I find myself mooning over fertilizers and soil for crying out loud! Looking at hardy roses to plant in my flower beds this year. Any ideas what would work best in Pennsylvania? Hugs, Maggie

This year winter was pretty tough so I really look forward to the warmth of the next season and although I like Skying I just want all the snow and cold gone. In preparation for spring I look for my running shoes and I thing of new places to hike near my home. I also make some travelling plans, I want to visit some of my relatives. Spring is the season in which nature comes back to life, it's a great lesson for everybody and a good time for a fresh start.

Walking and running in spring is the absolute best! The air is crisp without being freezing cold and the luscious smells of new plant life permeate the air. Enjoy! Hugs, Maggie

Bronchitis is such a nasty thing. It can put you out of commission quick. Hope this spring you don't have to worry with it and can have garage sales instead. Hugs, Maggie

Spring means warmer weather and lighter evenings. I very much enjoy seeing the colorful looking flowers. I am keen on spring but I love the summer much more. I like to do spring cleaning of my bungalow. At the moment I am busy getting for my trip to Argentina and Chile. It is just one week away now. I will be traveling with my four year old disabled son and my two year old daughter. I am thinking about the luggage that we will take with us. Today I saw a neighbor mowing her lawn. The weather is warm and sunny today you see.

Have a good trip. The first lawn mowing definitely means warmer weather is headed our way. The grass wakes up and everything that blooms follows its example. Hugs, Maggie

It will be a pleasure to breath the fresh air in spring. When the spring comes, the warm sunshine make me happy and comfortable, the trees and the grass are becoming green, then I remind my flowers in the room ,I carry them out and sun them. I also dig a small field in my yard,I will plant some vegetables in summer. The Tree-planting Day is also coming,I will plant several trees on that day.

I can smell spring, too. It smells great. I don't have the same passion for yard sales but I enjoy spring cleaning. Yesterday I spent time cleaning out a closet and giving items away to Deseret Industries. I also spent time cleaning out my oven. I absolutely love being able to open windows and filling my home with fresh air. Enjoy your yard sales!

Does anything smell better than a beautiful spring day or the first gentle spring rains? I can't think of anything! Hugs, Maggie
