I have been asked the question "Which one do you love, dog or cat?" I have no idea why people asked that. I think I like both dog and cat. But they think i can only love one not both. Is there any secret that the one who love dogs can not love cats?

Personally speaking, I prefer dog to cat, but it doesn't mean I hate cat. I believe that most people have their preference between dog and cat. In my view, such preference results from the different characters of dog and cat. Generally speaking, dogs like to rely on human beings while cats behave more independently. Such difference attracts people who have different characters.

The meaning of the question may be a question on mental side. Dog means dependent, while cat means independent. The two things can not take place on the same person, so they think the one loves dog may have a great opportunity not love cat at the same time. But in most case, people are complicated. There is not a clear line between dependent and independent. We may love doing job independently while want to be dependent on family members. So many people will love dogs and cats at the same time.
