Why do people put thier business on Facebook?

I understand that Facebook is a social meeting place. What I don't get is why do others put down every step of thier life on Facebook? Why is it so important for people to like or dislike your post. When I get on facebook I usually post my daily devotional, hoping that it would encourage others to look to God for help or there is always a situation in the Bible that relates to our lives today. It just aggrevates me when I see,"just finished breakfast now off to the gym". Now if I was a someone crazy and decided to follow this person, they have made it easy for me to do so. What does everyone else think about facebook? Do you get on to just read the post? or put your business out there. I enjoy reading the encouraging messages or something uplifting and catching up with my highschool friends. How do you feel Facebook should be used?

Well the more intelligent people will have their privacy settings set the way that no one can see those posts except for people from their friends list and of course they only add people they actually know. As for why, in essence facebook is already something very self-glorifying. People can comment on basically everything that goes on in your life. People who post the most uninteresting messages like "finished dinner" or "going to bed" on there, want even more attention.

That's good and its really sad that we need that "its all about me". I have even heard of people posting things on there that would hopefully get friends attention to like and comment but when there where no comments they became very shut in and distant from those friends. I just don't understand why this social media affects so many lives and peoples decisions about life according to what others think.

Ahh yes, people getting upset because they think they're "ignored" on facebook isn't even that uncommon anymore. It can get a bit pathetic, but honestly most young people love attention.

Personally, I have always wondered why people post all the things they do on there. I do admit that I play Cafe World, so these posts go on my Wall and other people's profiles, but mainly I use Facebook to post Christian Videos from YouTube, or too post stuff about my Business ventures, etc. I leave all the more personal stuff to either semding a personal message to someone, or just for people I really know. I don't care a lot of times what others are doing, and many times find some of the things they actually post offensive.

I am not really that crazy about facebook. I usually use it just for keeping up with my friends and relatives especially if they are far away. But since a lot of people are using facebook nowadays, i think it is also a good way of promoting their business. But i agree with you, I think some are too crazy to even post if they are about to sleep, eat, etc.

yes i must admit that using social media sites have gone too far beyond privacy. People who wants to broadcast everything about their daily lives from the time they open their eyes to the time they close their eyes are inevitable increasing. But for those who still want privacy could edit their settings to limit the people who could see your updates. And same to those who does not want to see too much on facebook.

I agree with you. Some people put too much information on facebook and often don't even realize how that information could be used. Myself, I only use facebook to give updates once a week or so about the important events in my life. I also like to know how my family and friends back in my hometown are doing.

It's not like I support the ranting all around the Facebook, but can you imagine Facebook without those-daily-activities status update? What should they fill in the "status update" then? :p

A lot of people participate each day in facebook. It ia a part of their daily routines. It is how they communicate with the world. it probably feels natural to them expose their life where they are posting each day. it might not seem right or logical to others around them, but it may seem perfectly normal to them.

Some people don't realize that what they do in Facebook is not good by posting every single minute about what they do. I also have a friend in Facebook and it really annoys me that almost every minute, she posted something. She posted everything she does in her house, and when she is outside, she check in on the places. I hope she don't have a stalker coz if she does, it is very easy to find her. My personal profile is very private except my shop in Facebook.
