I don't really like watching television shows. I'd rather watch movies in DVDs.

For some reason I find that watching television shows or even the NEWS influence a lot of people's thinking on a certain subject at a certain level that it seems the media takes control of their viewers' minds--at least that's what it seems to me here in my country.
It seemed like they're brainwashing everyone (to think like this and like that) with information that can be correct only on a certain point, fictional or biased information or just plain trash and successfully makes the thought a fact in the viewers' minds...if you get what I mean...
For a certain reason, I don't want to be a part of it ever since I was still a 6 year old kid. Oh sure, I watch the cartoons but only that and no more since I've watched the news for the first time in my life and got to know that it was only partially true.
I guess I am one of those weird people that would rather research more than just see a documentation of something that might be incomplete. For me an information that is incomplete is misinformation--I'm a perfectionist.
How about you MyLotters? What do you think about television shows? Do you really believe the news? Let the shows affect your daily living especially on the dramas? And do you research the facts behind a certain television documentation on a certain subject like foods and medicine? Please share your experience and insights.

do not mind if the one i am watching documentary, fiction or non-fiction. i just there to enjoy it and have fun so television is a sort of entertainment for me. usually, the one i watch are all about news as this give me awareness of what is happening in the local as well as in the world. so this type of information is very relevant to make me aware of the situation. i also watch DVD;s movies, especially those new movies. it s a great way to enjoy watching with the whole family.

If what you said is true, then your case should be something that should be followed by the rest of my neighbors. In dramas they get affected emotionally, especially the women/girls. If bad news comes out...actually they are all bad news to me since they seem so useless or really bad news where brother kills a brother...people tend to take them personally. This should not be the case, right?
But this is what's happening around me...around my family. And it seems we're the weird people of the society. We just don't fit in with our mindset.

Movies influence people as well. Same with radio and what we learn at school or read in books. I also seldom watch tv or news. I don't care about it but also most movies you are not able to watch completely. I can't stand the never ending interruptions of commercials which makes me sit and wait for the movie to continue and takes about 3 times longer to see the complete movie. I prefer movies on dvd as well it's more relaxing.
To my opinion it's up to yourself and also parents to know/find out/say what is real or fake. My kids know. They also know tht the biggest part of what is said in commercials is a lie and they just do it to sell.

Movies do influence people. But in my case, I only watch to watch and most movies I watch are those with moral lessons behind it or true to life story or about money or just plain horror/action/suspense/mystery movies.
I also understand the feeling of being impatient with all the commercials around and it really pays to research first before taking any idea as a fact.
It's good to know that there are people who really knows that some commercials are just for selling products...I just pity those who don't and just follow it like some kind of a trend--which can be bad if without any good judgement behind the action.
