Racial discrimination

There's a mylotter who posted about some people questioning his music choices base on his race (he's black). So here's my sentiment: Why is it necessary to pick on people just because they have a different skin or race or language? How would you deal with a person discriminating you in any ways? Will discrimination ends?

I guess we have to thank our ancestors for that problem....Racism goes back almost 200 years and 200 years later, we are still dealing with that crap... You would think people would grow up and get it together, but It continues and it doesn't seem like its going to stop anytime soon. I'm Puerto Rican and I have been discriminated against and its not a pretty feeling and worst of all it was on the job which can be pretty tough and uncomfortable. But I pretty much ignore any racial issues and go about my business. People need to change but I don't see it happening and at least not in my time.

It is sad to know that racial discrimination can't be prevented where ever we go.If that thing happen to me I would respect his/her opinion and besides he/she would never know who i am really and will comment on my being different from his/her race and that's fine with me.We were raised differently and it's a given fact that people will notice our differences.I am not against any race or something but most of the racist came from the people who never knew where they came from really ;) I pity those individual for they never know exactly some of the other races ethnicity that's why they became judgmental on individuals outside their race.they should know that even if they belong to the same race still, they are still different from each other people were created differently from each other aside from their race and ethnicity and they should know that . ;)

That is the problem with the older generation who influenced the new ones on how they should avoid the people in other races. And if you ask if that will ends? YOU WISH! Because that is part of our lives already. If that discrimination will end it means that the world will end as well. There is not such thing as perfect wherein discrimination will be avoidable.

I have to say that I hate racism of any kind. I do know it exists but I don't think it happens as often as some think. I went to school with all different races from different countries, we had a lot of exchange students. Well when one of the students would get in trouble they would say "You just don't like me because I'm black". This got old really quick. We heard it every day. They made everything about their race. Nobody else did so why were they?? So it goes both ways to me. Racism is wrong and playing the "race card" is also wrong.

In my opinion people who discriminate are narrow-minded. The color of the skin doesn't change the fact that all of us are human. People should really try to get along better. We say that we are civilized but a lot of people still discriminate because of religion and skin color. It's kind of sad.

Well, racial discrimination is still happen in this world. Some people think that some races are more capable in work than other races. And actually even in my country racial discrimination is still happen in education. If you want to apply at the top university in my country you will be asked about your race. When your answer isn't the one that they are looking for, you'll be 100% failed the exams even though you are a very smart person. I think discrimination will never end because it has been a mind set that some races are better than other races. And that mind set is still continue until now.

I hate to admit this, but this is just a part of life. There are always this and that and those. How we handle them will make the difference.

Probably a lot of those who discriminate races are suffering from either somewhat of a superiority or an inferiority complex. The former still believes that there are races that have inferior qualities and traits. The latter, in their desire to compensate (and usually overcompensate) for what they believe is their inferior trait, picks on a certain race as their yardstick and treats them as inferior to them. I'm actually more inclined to believe that most of these racists really suffer from a huge inferiority complex. And unless people stand up to these racists, discrimination will never end.

Well any time weather its online or out side of my house. I tell people you don't like the way I look or like things then you don't need to be around me. Its a free country where I"m at so I'm going to do as I want and that you need to grow up. People will judge and discriminate its part of life it its not about your skin its about you hair or eyes or faiths. I try to ignore them like the don't exist around me because if they have nothing nice to say about me or my family then they really don't matter to me. I'm bio rascal so is my daughter so we look different from one of our parents so I know she'll be looked down on by some people. If they want to give me a nasty look because I look Hispanic and I'm married to a White guy I give them a nasty look back as in how does it feel to be looked at that way. I really don't like it when people look at my daughter that way she is only 13.5 months old and being judged by who her parents are as well as probably my unborn child they will be looked at that way as well. Some times me and my husband feel like saying out loud what you looking at take picture it'll last longer. I look Hispanic like my dad, but I don't speak Spanish, I don't listen to the same music and a lot of Hispanic listen to all kind of things. I listen to all types of music if I like it I like it if I don't I don't. Its like saying I'm a mom so there for I like Soaps.

I think most people who discriminate do it because they were taught to think that way, usually by the parents and other family members, but also by the other people around them (i.e. "society"). In the past, people have always picked on or made fun of people who look different - it probably goes back a long way to some kind of survival instincts, where you stuck to your own tribe and that made you safer. These days when people of different races live together, it's not logical to apply the same reasoning, but people still have this kind of fear of something different. Only by education and setting a good example can we eradicate racism. I think it can be achieved - in the UK racism is much less than it used to be 20 or 30 years ago. People are opening their minds, and talking about races and ethnicities in a sensible way, rather than just having a knee-jerk reaction that "not-like-me" equals bad/ugly/stupid or whatever. There is still a long way to go of course. But I am optimistic.
