Salt stains in micro-suede boots!

HELP! I am in the process of *spring cleaning* and just wondering if anyone has experience with dirty micro-suede boots. I am wondering if anyone knows of any good ways to clean them without having them professionally done. I can get them done through my job, but it ends up totaling around $40. And I paid about $5 for these boots at the thrift store, so it's clearly not worth it. . I made the mistake of wearing these micro(fake) suede knee-high boots out during a winter snow storm (big mistake, I know now that I should only wear them during the fall/spring seasons because they are like impossible to wash?) so now I have these hideous salt stains all over them. . I'm not ALL that attached to these boots but I'm wondering if anyone knows of a good way to clean or wash them. Or at least get out the salt stains. Any ideas?

They say vinegar works great in removing stains on suede material. I'm not sure though if the micro suede one could handle the acidity of vinegar. Maybe you should try a small amount at first or dilute the vinegar in water and test it on a small inconspicuous part of your boot. Use an old toothbrush to brush it with. We don't have winter here where I'm from so we don't get salt stains on our shoes, but we still could get stains on our footwear. My wife actually bought a stain remover for suede and nubuck leather. I forgot the brand though. You could try checking out products like that. Hope you get those stains out
