Ending Up, Arguments With Kids

There are times that I argued with my son but after two or three times exchanging lines and feel that he could no longer control his voice, I stop not that I am wrong or afraid of him but to cool off the situation. He is easily getting irritated maybe because of the pressures on his job and his studies. I just finish the argument by explaining slowly to him what am trying to imply. By this, end whatever disputes we are in to. How about you friends, do you argue with your children too. How do you end up the situation?

i think i am something like your son. maybe VERY alike. i dont really think the fault is in the adult or the child, like my parents and me. sometimes i just feel misunderstood and sometimes i misunderstand them. i hate arguing with my parents too (who wouldn't?). Sometimes i just back off and see what happens, but most of the time, i end up not talking to them for days :(

Parents are always ready to understand as much as possible we don't want to hurt the feelings of our kids only that there are times that we have to correct them and what upsets us when kids answer back irritably.

Thanks nonsenseHS for the response, don't end up not talking to them that long, we felt so uneasy when children doesn't talk to us in a day. God bless...
