I watched missing tonight partly because what I usually watch was preempted by basketball. Unfortunately I liked it. So this will mean if I want to continue to watch it, I will have conflicts and will have to some recording of shows and then find time to watch them later or whenever. And Thursday is a fairly full night with several shows I like. When I first saw the trailers, I didn't think I would like it much. But I do.

I hated when they put two of my favorite shows. The Pretender and Early Edition, on opposite each other. Then they cancelled both. That was before I rented a DVR from the cable company. Now I just have to hope their are not 3 shows on at the same time.

I'm pretty sure I saw both movies years ago but I have trouble remembering the plot of both of them. I think in the second he came close to finding his mother but still missed out. A side note: The character of Jarod was based on a real person, Ferdinand Waldo Demara, who was known as the Great Impostor. Demara was a high school drop out who was apparently a genius. He would read books and then be able to steal people's identities, forge documents, and then assume jobs using their names. He taught at a few colleges, worked as a prison warden and a sheriff's deputy, practiced law, worked as a hospital orderly, and spent time as a monk in two different orders. While serving as a brother in one Catholic order, he actually started a college which still exists today. Perhaps the high point of Demara's 'career' was when he joined the Canadian Navy during the Korean War. He performed a number of surgeries on board including one time where he had to operate on 16 Korean combat victims. Before operating he had to go into his room and speed read a medical book to know what to do. It was that event that made him famous but also exposed him as an impostor when the mother of the doctor whose name he assumed read the story in the newpaper. The embarassed Canadian Navy decided not to prosecute the 'hero'.

It got mediocre reviews, but the people I follow on Twitter who watched it thought it was great. Maybe you should find out if it got good ratings, that way if it didn't you won't have to bother getting invested because it won't last long. And if it does do well, then you can worry about which shows to cut or reschedule or something.

It did get good ratings, and Laura Wright (Carly, GH) says it is one of her favorite new shows.
