What is loop length?

One factor that may affect the dsl service speed. Loop length is the length of the customer's phone line from their home to the Central Office or a type of booster relay station known as a Remote Terminal. DSL signals are sent out at very high speeds from the CO. However, the further a DSL signal travels, the slower it gets. The highest speed available to customer is therefore tied to the distance between their home and the CO. Because of this physical limitation, there is also a maximum distance from the CO at which a customer can connect for DSL service at any speed.
