Mylotting from your phone

Last month I got a new cellular phone and when I was in the store, they offered to let me switch from having GPS on my phone to having unlimited internet on my phone for the same price. I decided to do this because it was rare for me to use my phone for GPS purposes. Mostly I've been using the internet on my phone to look at facebook when I'm away from home. However, the other night I was waiting on a friend of mine and got really bored with facebook, so I decided to try mylotting with my phone. I was able to make responses and I could have started a discussion as well, but I didn't because the kids were being too hyper. The main problem that I had with it is that my keyboard is so small, but it still worked like a dream. This got me to thinking, have you ever used your cell phone to access mylot? When you do, do you respond to discussions or just read them? Have you ever started a new discussion from your phone? Do you find it to be more difficult than using your computer?

Hi dorannmwin, I have tried to access myLot once on my current phone, it's an Android smartphone from Vodafone. I logged in without any problems but do to the screen size and how fidgety it is to scroll up/down and across I grew impatient with not being able to get past the offers!! It's a shame cos there are plenty of times I could find myself having time on my hands when I'm away from home to do myLotting but sadly it just doesn't work well for me. So definitely I find it much easier (and comfortable) to use my computer or Netbook when at home. IrishGal77 :)

I definitely didn't think that it was all that comfortable to do from the phone, but I would probably do it again if I was in a situation where I was bored out of my mind and didn't have anything at all to do. It might take longer to read and respond to discussions, but it is a lot more fun than just reading status updates on facebook.

I was able to open mylot with my phone. But my phone isn't good enough for mylotting so it is only good for reading responses. Sometimes I have hard logging in too. The whole page won't fit the screen of my phone. Maybe If I have a cellphone as big and convenient as an iphone I guess that would be possible. That would be really cool too since I can just make discussions anywhere in the house or on the bed while relaxing.

There is one part of me that would like to have an iphone, but I really don't want to have the bills that go along with an iPhone, so for right now, I guess I'm just going to have to settle with my sort-of smart phone.

Hi dorannmwin, I did login myLot reading and writing posts on a cellular phone before. This happened the time I owned a smartphone. And it's done when I was having vacation in somewhere free wifi was available. It's true that the keyboard is rather small and is not as convenient as doing on a laptop. Yeah, I responded to discussions which are interesting and comment back to them as well. But I didn't create any new discussion on a phone yet Nevertheless I found it's easier handily using touch screen keyboard. I enjoy doing it using my husband's phone I would like to get a smartphone with touch screen in the coming future so that I could have fun in the myLot activities as well when I'm away from home Happy posting!

At home I always like to get on web on my laptop with bigger keyboard. I can run my fingers fast and handy on them smoothly without seeing them. Really easy and convenient. Certainly I can type more posts on my big device. I link my laptop to a quality speaker. The internet music on air really sweet compared to that played straight away from my laptop. the melodious music seems like giving me more impetus and inspiration to type posts

First off, I have to say that the fact that I have a phone that is able to access the internet will never replace my need to have my laptop with us when we are away from home for a period of time. That said, I do find that when I am away from home and waiting on someone, mylotting is always my go to activity for passing the time.

Just like you, when I am on mylot at home, I am also listening to some kind of audio as well. Right now I am listening to a podcast because I have never been the kind of person that is able to function when I am not multitasking.

I have used my iPhone to respond to a discussion, but not to start one because then I would have to go through the new discussion page to choose what category. What I usually do is to go on either the today's top and if I see a discussion I like then I respond to it. Much of it is done when the computer is so slow, or it is night and I remember, "Oh no! I did not write on my lot today!"

Sometimes it works much better then my computer. Of course, still cannot send typing one letter at a time especially since I m good a touch typing. Not only that I really have to be careful what I write and not make any mistakes. Back spacing is not that fun.

I've tried using my cell phone to mylot, but my phone can't seem to handle it. I can use it to get on facebook though, although it does get boring rather fast! I was never a big fan of facebook anyway (shhh LOL), I'd rather mylot instead! Good thing I hardly ever go online with my phone. Not only is it more difficult to use than my computer, but I'm on a prepaid plan. I mainly just use my cell phone for calls and texts. Oh yeah, and I use the camera that's on it as well. Happy mylotting!

I've actually had my phone for some months now, but I do have to admit that every time that I find myself away from home with nothing else to do at the time, I find that I will be spending time on mylot. Granted, I am not able to post as quickly from my phone as I am able to do from my computer, but I am still able to make a few cents here and there and ultimately it does add up.

I haven't done any mylotting with my phone as the screen is too small and it won't suit mylotting needs. I prefer to use my netbook to come here on mylot and participate here. I don't want to change my phone or get a phone with big screen so I'm quite happy with my netbook for mylotting...

You are definitely right that the screen on the phone is quite small and also the keyboard is small as well. However, I have been a heavy texter for a while now, so I have gotten pretty used to the smaller screen.

I do not know how to use internet from the mobile phone. I tried couple of times, but was not successful. I think I am one person who does not know how to use internet through the mobile phone. I hope to learn some day.

The cost of mobile internet is less than compared to the other internet in our place. I think some day I might need to learn it and try to use it when the other internet is down because during rainy season sometimes my internet goes up. Thanks for the encouragement and I will try to learn more about it as soon as possible.

Hi ajithlal, it's really great to own a smartphone that enable us to get on web whenever we are away from home and in area where wifi is avalable. I always do this, using my hubby's phone for my old model smart phone finds inconvenient to surf net. The keypad seems too small for me to type as well. I enjoy doing mylotting using his 5.3 in bigger. I like to read and type post while waiting in somewhere where I could get on line

First off, don't feel like you are not a really smart person because not all phones have the ability to access the internet. I knew that my old phone could do it, but I never used it except for emergency situations because I had to pay per minute. When I upgraded to the phone that I have now, I was given the option of dropping my GPS and instead getting unlimited internet. I really didn't use the GPS all that often, so it seemed like a much better option for me to get the mobile internet instead.

Nah, you don't really need a smarter, faster phone. You just need to spend more time on mylot where you are able to get there and read and respond to discussions comfortably.

i was always wanting a smart phone so i could use the net anywhere as long as i have a connection. and when i finally got one, i use it for almost all of my internet needs even at mylot. i find it easier in a computer but the cellphone is very convenient specially that i could work in the kitchen while i think of a topic to discuss. ^_^

While I really do like the fact that when I have my phone with me, I never have to feel like I'm disconnected from the world. I will choose the computer over the phone any day when I have that choice because of the fact that the screen and keyboard is a lot bigger with the computer.

I don't have a netbook and I know that I wouldn't have been able to get access where we were from a wifi connection, so the phone was really the only option that I had. I might do it that way from time to time, but it will never replace using my computer.

I would love to be able to access myLot from my phone. I find that I have a lot of waiting-time. I wait on the kids a lot. At schoo, at their after school activities, at their friend's house, etc. It would be great to be myLotting while in the car. I have a Blackberry Bold. I don't mind typing, but I have trouble responding to discussions from my phone. The page don't load up well. It would be great if there was a Blackberry myLot app!

My mobile phone is too old for this. The other problem is that I need to change my glasses for reading and I can't see very well the phone letters. And finally, I prefer to sit comfortably at home browsing myLot and typing on my laptop. But if you have fun with your cellphone, it's good for you. Happy myLotting!

Honestly, I have to say that I prefer to use mylot from either my computer or from my laptop. However, I know that there will be those times that I won't have access to either of those, so having the option of using the cell phone to access the site is something that I do like having.

Well, don't laugh but I'm still one of the few out there who doesn't even own a cel phone. I would probably try to use it for here though if I did, I'd probably have to figure out how and once i did it sould be a piece of cake s to speak.

Though I have had a cell phone for almost the last fifteen years, I won't laugh at anyone that doesn't have a cell phone. Our family has two seperate cell phone lines, but we don't have a home phone at all.

My cell phone is real old. It's only capable of making and receiving calls. I'm ok with that since I am not a phone person anyway. I have one of the first camera phones. I can use my husband's cell to access the internet and probably get on myLot but haven't tried. Gives me an idea though when I am with him and he's busy coaching softball, I can play around with his phone and see if I'm able to get on myLot and see the keyboard without any problems. Might keep me out of trouble...lol

Hello doran! well, yes I have done using android phone for mylot and I find it easy to use. I can type in there while I am lying in bed or couch. Not like in front of computer I still have to sit all the way long till I'm done typing in keyboard. As for starting a new discussion, I haven't done it in android phone. I simply participate more of responding not starting new ones.

Yes, it's fun to have a phone for doing mylot. Of course, computers can be at home or inside the office not like phone where you can bring anywhere and do mylot anytime of the day you want. Too bad, I have no phone which I can use my own to do mylot...

I have an IPad and I sometimes use it to mylot. I use it when I am traveling or out of the house for several hours. It works ok but it is slower than my computer. I can read the screen fine from my IPad. I do not believe that I have ever begun a discussion from my IPad but do respond to discussions. I prefer to be on my computer but when it is not possible, I am glad to have my IPad.

That is a good thing that you do have the 3G access for when wifi isn't available. I would have to do something just like that if I was to get an iPad because I know that where I was earlier and posting at has no wifi at all. However, when I'm here in town and at my own house, there is wifi available almost everywhere.

I have the IPad that I can use with wi-fi but I also have AT&T 3G. I usually have access when I want it (not always). However, I have paid more for this IPad and then I have a monthly plan with AT&T. When in Austin, I have a $15 a month plan. When I travel, I need the $25 a month plan. The 15 is not enough when I do not have access to my computer and I am dependent on my iPad only.

hi dear Dorann, I have tried to type with my tablet computer on my way to work and back and I find it a pain in the @zz to do this. I rather wait till I am home and can use my computer and type comfortably. Fortunately from Monday on I will commute to and from work daily again so every night I can access the computer even if only half an hour per evening so I can clear out the stuff and am less stressed when the next weekend rolls in....... answering all the mails in depths then. LOL

I tried opening mylot on my phone for a couple of times and i find it difficult to use unlike facebook or other social networking sites. but you can read responses and discussions if you are patient enough. i doubt you can try to respond or start a discussion. let's hope mylot will also have a mobile app or mobile version soon.

Actually I have been reading and responding to comments that have been left on this conversation for a while now from my phone and the more that i have been doing it, the easier it seems to me.
