Many times your personal beliefs, whatever they may be, will lead you to be interested in something. Or the other way around. Your interests will affect your beliefs. So on your path, you decide to research something. I'm intersted in dancing and I'm interested in Shamanism. So I've decided to research dancing Shamanism. There are some books on it, but not very many. There are some CDs. But often when I research and I read the descriptions, the book or CD is not what I want. But sometimes it's exactly what I want. So when researching, a person must make sure that what they've found is what they want before they buy, borrow, or rent (if I find a DVD). There was also a little something on Youtube about Dancing and Shamanism. You also need to make sure that what you find is part of your path and not going in a different direction. Like in my case, I don't want drugs or alcohol induced anything on my path. I can meditate or do visualizations just fine without them. So are you or have you researched anything that involves both your interests and beliefs?

I not only research as much as I can but I am always on the look out for what is coming out new on the subjects I am interested in. In my reasearch I try to be as open minded as I can be. For instance I know that human kind has used substances for all of history to inhance the Spiritual experiences. This is not for me but I accept that others have used this to their satisfaction. We now know the science behind the use of sound to create a more receptive state of mental awareness. The beat of a drum is probubly the earliest evidence of this response.

I'm interested in permaculture, environmentalism and food security, and do a lot of reading around those subjects. Sadly (for me!), many people incorporate a spiritual aspect into these things. Someone's spiritual path is entirely their own business and I wouldn't dream of questioning anyone's right to believe what they like. But I do think it's a personal thing and prefer to keep it separate.

Each to their own thing. Take care.
