My dog is rude!

We have a lot of "traffic" going in and out of this house. Friends we haven't seen in a while will stop by besides the people who come and go on a weekly basis. Our 3 year old Shar Pei barks at the people she doesn't see very often. Her bark sounds like she will bite and attack if they come in any further and she doesn't know it! She barks at neighbors walking down the street. This is not the message we want to send to our friends, neighbors and family. So I find myself in a conversation about what she's really saying. She is saying "hurry up, come in, sit down, you must be part of our pack". My best counter action is to send our two dogs out the door until our guest is seated. Then she won't really bark that much. So these people have to call me from their cell phones to tell me they've arrived so I can do this. It's really annoying. Do you have any suggestions?

I do not think there is much you can do about your dog. Dogs have personality and yours loves barking. However you can seek advice from a dog trainer. Also check out the links below; 1. http://www.dogsupplies.com/pages/Best-Ways-to-Control-Dog-Barking.html 2. http://companionanimalsolutions.com/blogs/control-your-dogs-barking/ I hope they help.
