Hey there guys, Just this morning one of the small scale mall in metro manila ended it's 82 hour burning this morning Philippine time and it was a relief that no one got hurt or anything like that it is just sad that a part of my childhood history has gone into flames and most likely will be destroyed since it can never be used as a mall again. The names is the Ever Gotesco Grand Central mall in Monumento Manila. A lot of businesses were there clothes, shoes, cellphones and a lot more and it has been a round as long as i can remember. Goodbye now part of my history. How bout you guys any place that were significant in your life that had been burned down or destroyed?

You are sort of sad about it, aren't you deodavid? You grew with it and now it's gone. Maybe you spent very sweet moment there as well, right? I've heard incident like this happen every where. Carelessness could have been the cause of the fire.

I also suspected so. The police should find out who they were. This would be done without the help of "certain people" who have the connection to the insurance companies. Say by the way what building or monuments that don't exist anymore but you still remember it? What I still remember about my city was that there was a monument with a watch on top. I often saw that when I was a child.

Hi there bro, Well i think that police out here would not really investigate they are that way in the sense, regarding old landmarks that are now gone that I've had wonderful experiences with? Well let me see, the school that i went through when i was in preschool and my fathers home was a tenement that had been condemned last year and was deduced to rubble. Clock tower right?

Hey there yanzalong, Yeah it is quite saddening since this is a place that some of my good memories was made especially the one's with my mom and sister, anyway i guess life is just like that people and things just come and go so maybe better make the most out of it or them while still around , right my friend. The mall according to rumor was set on fire on purpose (insurance claims). Take care my friend, stay safe.

Grand Central is the only shopping mall that I could go into alone. I am not familiar with places in Metro Manila and I seldom visit the place. But if I need to go, I know the Victory Terminal and since grand central is very near the terminal, I visited it for several times already. I remember buying a blouse in that mall when I am still single.

Hey there r3jcorp, Yup, Grand Central mall is very accessible to the bus terminal, Going alone there is fine but it is not one of the safest malls around since the area is just flooded with the wrong people. But cops are always around in the area and just being extra alert with your stuff will do the trick. That place is really a nice place to buy tons of stuff and I hope that they rebuild a new mall there so since the area is just perfect for one to sell a lot of stuff. Anyway Thanks for the comment and always stay safe to you and your family.

I can't forget this mall too as this mall is our meeting place of a childhood friend as we found the place so convenient. By just taking a ride at the LRT you can easily reach the place. You can watch movie and dine in at your favorite fast food just in the said mall. I felt sad too hearing it was burned.

Hi there bing28, Well i guess we can say goodbye to old memories inside the mall now. Me too i have lots of memories there shopping with my mom and my older sister there, looking around at latest gadgets and clothing, numerous people whom are all different in a way and we even had a walk around there back when i was in college providing blood pressure and glucose check-ups. Anyway goodbye to old memories and welcome to new and better one's.

That's really sad. I know what you mean though. Even when businesses close, that you've been going to since childhood, it's like a little piece of you goes with it. We used to have this Vietnamese restaurant about 2 blocks away from our house that me and my family would go to ALL the time since I can remember. We knew the owners, since we were such regulars. And just recently it finally closed down. It makes me incredibly sad, but what can you do?

Hi there maezee, Yup, what can you do time's change, people and establishments change to our go away that is just how life is. But I believe that when one leaves a new one takes it's place a much better one if not as good, Im an optimist that way anyway i'm sure that you will have a new place to eat at soon and to be build on new memories for a new future. So take care and cheers to old and beloved memories and for future great one's to come.

I've heard about this in the news, and although I haven't even stepped inside this mall, I'm familiar with it since it was one of my landmarks when I'm visiting friends in the Caloocan. It's always saddening to hear old establishments being gutted down by fire. Like you said, for some people, these places have some part of their lives attached to it, some memories, and these are irreplaceable. There are rumors though that this was a deliberate act. Apparently the owners of the mall owe the city government a significant amount in real estate taxes and probably will use a part of the insurance to pay it off or they could negotiate a write-off. Oh, well, rumors are rumors. But they say, when there's smoke, there's fire

Hey there beamer88, It has been a long since we've exchanged views. Regarding what you've said, the security guards that works in our hospital says that the owners of the mall really has a lot of debts to settle with banks and the government and that he himself has been discharged a long time ago from the mall but still receives bits of his salary that were not completely payed of by the company for almost a year. Well i just hope that the they pay up all the hard working people that they owe money to. And that i guess once old memories burn down we can forge more and better one's.

Yes we have the same here in Cebu. Before it was named as Gaisano South, but before it was burned they change the name to Gaisano Capital. The building was just newly renovated as i remembered but sadly one day it was burned down and lasted for almost 3 days that store was part of my history too. If i remember during my freetime in college i used to hang out there, but now its gone

Hey there igatiful_baddass Well i guess that is just how life is, there are things that will just surpass our lifetime and things that would go into rubble even before we can appreciate it's significance in our lives. Anyway i hope that there will be a new place for us to set new memories and that the new generation can have there own place to build memories on.
