What is Sam's history?

Kelly Monaco plays Sam and she also played Livvie on the GH spinoff Port Charles before joining GH as Sam. Now John McBain is on GH and he was on Port Charles as the vampire and apparently Livvie's husband. Was there ever a connection made on GH between Livvie and Sam or did Kelly just join the cast as a totally new character. Having Sam say that John looks familiar makes it seem like they are going to make some kind of connection between characters even if it just McBain looking like the vampire character. But is there a connection between Sam and Livvie or the other character on PC that Kelly played?

I was thinking the same thing when she said it. I guess only time will tell if they knew each other or had some connection as John McBain and Sam or if the writers were just paying homage to the fact that they were so close on Port Charles. I am pretty sure Sam has no connection to Livvie Locke. I am also 99% sure that "Sam" was an entirely new character with only the connection to Alexis Davis when she first came on the show.

I think it was just a tongue in cheek thing. Or perhaps they were just referencing their connection in the chapel. Sam is Alexis' daughter, but when she came to town she didn't know that. She also had an affair with Alexis' then husband Ric, who is the father of Molly. Livvie was never mentioned in General Hospital.

Very interesting thought..and everyone's comments! I enjoyed Port Charles and the vampire storyline. That was entertaining. I knw John was the vampire, but didn't remember Kelly/Sam being on the show, but now that it is mentioned...I do remember her! And hey...stranger things have happened as far as them bringing Port Charles into General Hospital..after all..PC was a spin off of GH. Neither John or Sam can be a vampire as they are out during the day...don't think even the soapy world can make that one happen! However...they could make Sam, Livvie's twin sister.....
But when they saw each other yesterday and Sam thought she knew him....since we don't know anything about Sam prior to her comeing to town..other than her brother Danny and that issue...and Sam's real father has never been mentioned even by Alexis...I am wondering if John won't turn out to be her brother she didn't know about as he left before she remembered or maybe a half brother..same father. Or...could John be another child that Alexis had and hasn't mentioned? THe two look so much alike...siblings could very easily be the answer. I am looking forward to this story...there could be some good stuff goin' on here! Finally!!!!
