Hello Lotters, There has been so many discussion about these in the past, some similar in this very same topic. Even some other mylotters in their own respective countries were having this kind of conversation. Experts, Government related agencies keep saying that it's the International Market's fault for having this kind of so called scarce resources.. I think it is best of our interest not to let China have our Spratleys, but since we can't go war with China, i guess we better have a good diplomacy with them in terms of sharing the Island, SHARING?! the western part belongs to us and they are now taking it too? THe protest had become more intense and the Government's irritating complaint about Noynoying is not even accept because the rallyist demands a strong solution, before it gets worse. Not a referral link. http://www.abs-cbnnews.com/video/business/03/20/12/groups-vow-intensify-oil-price-hike-protests

The rising costs in fuel is a global issue and not necessarily confined to this country alone but other countries are looking for solutions towards this problem. In UK and Germany, they are giving paid in tariffs to homeowners who install the solar panels in their roofs. In this process, the homeowners get to receive some income and at the same time reduce the monthly fuel expenses. They also reduce the reliance upon the oil rich countries for fuel and these countries don't even have the sunlight the whole year round. What we need is to harness the renewable sources of energy to reduce our dependence for fuel. However, this means a lot of investments which we certainly cannot afford in view of the current economic situation. With the Spratly's issue, it has been years and nothing positive has come about in this issue. What is left for us is to grin and bear all the inconveniences brought about by the rising prices in almost everything not only in fuel costs.

Hello Yahnee, I have watch some news about it and it's causing other countries specially in the west to commence protest and violent rallies all over. I feel bad and a bit of disappointment over the last few administrations after Marcos Era for not taking good care of our Nuclear Power PLant, we paid for it for nothing

The Nuclear Power Plant would have saved us a lot of trouble in this kind of situation. What I am worried about will be the shortage of the fuel supply similar to the scenario during the Ramos Administration where we would suffer from brownouts everyday. Considering that I am earning from online jobs, brownouts will result not only in inconveniences but in loss of earnings. We lost a lot of money in the Bataan Nuclear Plant and I believe we are still paying for its upkeep up to the present. So many things going to waste because of the lack of planning and decision making.

Unruly oil price hikes that makes the poor fellow suffer more! When the oil price hikes, a domino effect is expected. Not only our basic commodities goes up but all to be settled for our living rises too. Our Spratley's been battling by some because of its rich oil deposit found in the land. But I think it's a long process to help us with regards to oil matter. For now, our government should do a long-term solution for this trouble because protest in the country is not a good governance sign.

Hello Lhenni, If only machines and transport uses a renewable sources of energy for the transport and production of goods, this wouldn't happen at all. I can't believe GMA actually gave a loophole for the Chinese to have claim on the western part of those islands, we need to fight or claim it through diplomacy.

There's some local fellows who promote other sources of energy other than petrol, and sad they were not pursued due to lack of support from our government. I had watched our own local scientist long before, saying their sentiments in an interview, for not getting support in terms of funding them to pursue their inventions. Because they lack of support, they tend to sell their unpursued discovery/innovation that can make our country proud if they were just patronized by our own government *sigh! Well, on Spratley's matter, it's sad that many invaders were claiming it. Territorial disputes were still contested. But I believe, strategically, we own the Spratley's! I don't want to say something with regards to Chinese, I don't want your post to be deleted *wink!

That is really frustrating that our Government cannot do anything to stop this. We cannot stop the war in the Middle East being the main reason why the supply and production is somehow disrupted by this plus the demand of course of growing making the prices soar up. The militants growing pressure to control the prices is futile unless the Government would give in to the proposal to remove the VAT tax on Oil. I think that is the only solution which the government is not willing to do right now. VAT seems to make the Oil Prices soar higher as it automatically rises with the rise of Oil Price. Other than that I could not think of any solution to the rising oil prices right now. Price of Oil is dictated by World Market demand and I think it is not only us that feel the pinch of it.

Well when sourcing for oil in other parts of the world, we all know that Middle East is the biggest supplier of it and most countries that produce this are not as big as the ones that comes from Middle East. US is an oil producer but they could not export since the needs of their country is just enough for the oil consumption of their country. And also others that can supply but of course they would not offer it below the prevailing market prices as well. We do have alternative power sources and so far this are quite expensive at the moment. Solar is one of them but then I think it will take a large parcel of land and of course capital to provide the needs of our country. I even saw there is a plant that can be converted to a diesel like oil. But some are trying to stop the propagation of this since this could tilt the farmers from producing this plant instead of producing food if this proves to be marketable enough. I think shifting from oil to alternative sources can mean more capital outlay than to buy oil for now. But hopefully we can finally find a solution to eliminate our dependence to oil consumption which for now seems impossible.

Hello Rsa101, I don't think it's our business with regards to their politics. but it is our business to look for different kind of resources most specially in terms of fuel or power source. I can't believe actually allowed CHina to penetrate our part of the spratleys. it's sad business owners who are part in the world market are getting richer while we are getting poorer.

Though I do not have cars or motorbikes which consume gasoline, but the oil price goes up really has a great effect on my daily life. As the oil price goes up, the transport fee also goes up. Now i have pay more money on taxi and the shipping fee. Also the price of vegetable and meat are also going up now, for producing these cost energy. I think the Chinese government is shameless. Half of the oil price in China is made up of tax. It means we have to pay twice the oil cost for using it. And our life become more and more poor.

Hello Dandan07, Oil prices affects the transportation of goods, and production of goods though oil-dependent machines. if oil goes up, then the cost of buying oil for those purpose goes up as well. indeed like the Philippines, there's VAT on oil, otherwise, there won't funding for social programs coming from tax on oil. have a nice day.

I am getting fed up hearing those complaints about the oil price hike. But if they don't initiate to do the complaints who will? The government is not doing anything to solve it. That's maybe because they themselves are not affected because they don't buy them from their own pocket but charges it to the government. What do you think Letran, am i right?

Hello Simplyd, I am getting fed up with the Government not making any solution that is more convincing and feasible to the people's eyes. the Govt. is not good enough making the right solutions to this oil crisis, this is one of the core problems of our country and it's economy. maybe some are doing that, but maybe they don't feel the burden of the oil prices

The Oil price hike here in Philippines, is way more faster than the progress of our economy and our country. It is really depressing, because its the drivers and the commuters that suffers. Also that the wage here is not enough to comply all the necessity of the people, its really sad.

Hello Jazzieruffa, that's becausse we rely too much on importing and instead of getting oil from our own land. don't you know that an oil field in the philippines is owned by company that shift's it's oil to australia. there's a lot of problems now that more people are giving up.

Something concrete really has to be done with regard to the rising oil prices here in country. Now, there is already a domino effect because by next week most of our basic commodities like sugar will increase also in price. I don't know if people will again not use their cars like three years ago when the gas prices was also too high. It lessened the traffic in Metro Manila and it seems that the oil companies found that this lessened their sales, so they lowered the gas prices after a few weeks. I wish that our government will come up with a concrete solution so that we are not at the mercy of these big oil companies whenever they feel like raising the prices of oil.

Hello Anne25, I feel sad about this and the only choice i think i have left for now is to keep on saving as many as i could. i don't like the idea of spending any more.because i have spent it a lot when the relatives came here and buy some stuff.unfortunately, there is no concrete solution, nothing can be permanent in easying the oil price tension.

hi letran long time no see. here in the US we are still having super high prices for gas for our cars. While I do not drive nor own a car, my best friend does and she tells me the prices are rising again. what I do not understand is that huge deposits of oil have been found in North And South Dakota so why are they not drilling for it and using it instead of depending on Sau di Arabia and Iran and Iraq for expensive oil? As for China it seems now she has taken over the market from a to z. nothing in my room showed made in America all but two or three items were made in China.I think its time we get made in US on the things we buy and put our own out of work people back to work, even drilling oil in those states would mean jobs for a lot of American men.

Hello Hatley, Yeah it's been a while my friend hatley, but it's just been months i haven't really been that gone yet. I don't know about the issue in the United States with regards to the drilling site, remember they were problems with the oil pumping site that causes oil to spread to the ocean.have a nice day.

i don't think we can do about this. the oil price is controlled or is affected by the world market. we only have to bear with the price increase of other commodities affected by the oil price hike. it's the government move i guess that will solve this problem. whatever it is, no one knows.

Hello Neildc, Yes, we can't do anything about it for one bit. I think it's the machineries that are dependent on oil usage is the cause of the rise of the commodities. not to mention the vehicles use for transportation i think looking for future site for oil drills are the only solution i bet.

I've heard that oil prices will go down pretty soon more than once so this is a good news. We don't have to worry again about how we would budget our money. Thankfully this price hike is over already and we can sigh in relief already.

Hello hotsummer, It won't make a difference because the oil prices went up a lot more in the past few months, any down turn won't have that much good effect on the transport sector. let's start with the rice, till now the price is still waging from 30 to 40 per kilo, i think that is something that should be lowered too.
