Hey guys/gals.. :) I am just wondering. Is it necessary for us to get high GPA? even the best graduated certificate? All i know that our success is not just measured by GPA itself. There are other factors such as public speaking, behavior, etc. How do you think guys/gals? Does anyone here who already got good occupation without high GPA? please give your recommendation.. :)

I know that where I live, one must have at least an A- or a B+ to be able to place into a Master's program. Some people may succeed with low grades, but if you're going into the field that you are majoring in, it's important to understand the content of what you're studying. If you don't, you'll be clueless when you do find a job...

GPA is necessary, yet it should not be a factor by itself on whether we are to become successful from it or not. I have been a volunteer in the community as well as doing music activities (I plan on finding a career in music as an educator and performer). Yes my grades are good, but it's my involvement that sticks out. I think the GPA would be a factor if no one had any special gifts or abilities. My Principal at my high school spoke to the seniors in the gym, and told us that he would not have been in that position had he not gotten an athletic scholarship to go to college. In other words, he did not have the highest grades or GPA, but he still aimed to further his education in order to be successful. Also, everyone's success is measured differently. I believe the true definition of success is when someone has reached the peak of their satisfaction with his/her life. If you've ever played The Sims, it is similar to when your Sim reaches the platinum level of their goals. Well, this is basically my opinion on it. What I really believe is unnecessary is class rank. No college has asked me about why my rank is high in an interview, only my GPA and school activities. Hope this helped!

Yes, my lecturer also told me about it. GPA is like a proof of our excellence. Thanks for sharing. I am sure it will help me a lot. Have a nice day. :)

In my opinion a high GPA is still necessary because it will be the first impression on you. Students with high GPA are either really smart or really hard working, and those are the some of the traits that employers look for. Of course, success doesn't depend on high GPA alone. You need to follow-up by being an employee or business person that is willing to work really hard to achieve success.

oh, i know several people who are receiving a handsome pay and is in a good job who didn't really study hard when they were still students. One of my classmate in high school who almost did not graduate now owns a computer shop and have just recently opened a resort! So proud and jealous of him hahahaha although with this story, you might conclude that i say, it's not on the gpa,.. i do not totally agree with that statement. i think it's on accepting whatever it is that you are faced against right now and doing the best you can. right now, your job is studying hard to get a good gpa. just do what you can, give it your effort., if you can't get a high gpa, then accept whatever your hardwork has given you. And by the time, you are working, no matter what work you get, just do what you can and give it your best effort as well, and you'll see yourself rising to your dreams

Well it does help a great deal. But there are many potential employers tend to not look too deeply into academic credentials unless it is deciding between two people with similar experiences in the work force. Then that might be something that could break the tie between two people out there. It does rather matter in a certain way but in other ways it is not going to be something that might not matter as much as people might let on. Of course it does depend on the job that you are going for how much it might be weighed, what your competition for the position might be, and it most certainly cannot hurt. It is really just something where it is an asset to have, but it might not be the ultimate asset to have on your side. Of course, doing well in school is just something that did come a bit second nature right to me a lot of the time so I did work hard and I'm very happy with the GPA I got.

There are lots of workers who got good occupation without high GPA because of their skills, abilities, talents and knowledge. People who believe in themselves and confident even though they have not finished their schooling. People, who are willing to be trained, put interest to their job application, love and dedication impresses the person who wants to hire you. Who you are is not measured by GPA.

I have also has the same question. My GPA is not very good in college, and now there is still a zero in it. So i doubt whether i can have a chance to get an offer with that kind of GPA. But many things is not same. One of my classmates does not have very good GPA, but he has spent a lot of time in social work. So when he applies a master degree, he gets a offer. Maybe the ability is more important than GPA. GPA is also a way to show your ability, the ability to learn things well.
