I have heard so many things about B12. I hear that it will give you more energy and I also heard that it will help you lose weight. I don't know what is real and what is hype. How do you find the truth? Have you or do you take B12? What for?

From what I just read it's the vitamin that controls your nervous system and metabolism. I don't know if this would effect your energy but it's very possible. It will get your metabolism working harder which would help keep you in shape. But just like any vitamin, you can also have too much. You might want to check with a doctor or dietician and see if it's a good idea. I don't know

Actually, it doesn't matter if you get too much B12. The women in my family have B12 deficiencies, and when my mom started getting shots of B12, the doctor told my dad not to worry about giving her too much, because the body will just dispose of extra B12 through urine elimination.

I am not really sure what vitamin b12 does for you either but I have heard it's good for you. But I think it's kind of hard to find, isn't it? I know it's in energy drinks and Vitamin water but that's about it. I should look into that. . Happy mylotting!

I take B12 because I lack B12. I don't think it helps one lose weight really. But it can give you more energy, which I guess gives you the energy to exercise more which helps you lose weight. When my mom got to the age of about 50 she developed a lack of B12 (which apparently happens when women get into their 40s and beyond - although I'm only 31), she was told to get a shot each month. So she takes a shot of B12 each month, and you know what? She seems to sleep better the first few weeks after getting the shot. I just take over the counter supplement. B12 can also help with depression, but not major depression, just minor down in the dumps. The women in my family have B12 problems. When my sister was 18 it was discovered she had pernicious anemia, which has to do with B12. She lost weight because pernicious anemia is when a lack of B12 goes bonkers on your body.

I don't think there is any hype about the benefits of B12, myself, but I do also think that it is important to get all of the B-complex vitamins including B4 which hardly anyone knows about and which we are not likely to find in the vitamin stores. This is why it is so important to eat dark leafy greens once in a while, as they are a complete source of the B vitamins. I used to sprout wheat at home and make my own wheatgrass juice and drink an ounce of it almost daily, but now that I am retired and my stress level is a lot lower, I mostly get it from "superfood" drink mixes which contain spinach and kale greens as well as seaweed and wheat grass and a whole bunch of other nutrients. As all that stuff doesn't taste wonderful by itself, I mix it with chocolate milk to make it yummy. They do have delicious fizzy vitamin B-12 tablets that I take if I need an energy boost. I personally have never gotten a B-12 shot, but I know people who have and who think they helped a lot. If you are interested in losing weight, I think the best way is to drink a lot of water, especially 20 minutes to 1/2 hour before a meal, and to eat slowly and chew carefully. Often when we are really hungry we eat more than our bodies need because we don't give the body time to tell us we are full. It is also a matter of getting enough healthy exercise (as opposed to the unhealthy kind!) and being careful to choose good things to eat instead of "tanking" up on carbs and sweets or artificial foods with dangerous chemicals in them. For instance, if I ever had to lose weight, I would completely avoid any food with artificial sweeteners in them.

The best things about b natural vitamins to the aging population may include better remembrance and feeling. It doesn't matter what what their age is, many people take note of a noticeable difference in remembrance and option to pay attention, in addition to a decline in miserable opinions and irritation. As I’ve read vitamin B12 deficiency can potentially cause severe and irreversible damage, especially to the brain and nervous system. At levels only slightly lower than normal, range of symptoms such as fatigue, depression, and poor memory may be experienced.  Vitamin B12 deficiency can also cause symptoms of mania and psychosis. Vitamin B12 deficiency can be caused by the metabolic disorder pernicious anemia. Won’t use one If I were you
