Mass effect series

Well I spent 5 days or so completing the 3 mass effect games, the first two to have the saves, and I found the third one to be a great game in concept. You can really change the outcome of conversations and the way characters interact between themselves, I also enjoyed being able to interrupt conversations of strangers and support whatever side I wanted. Even when the endings were kind of weird, (up to the point of I enjoyed playing them all again :). How about you all? Did you played it and enjoyed it or, as I have read all around the internet, the ending of the series ruined the games for you?

I've completed two run throughs of all three games, and am on my 3rd now (a racist pro-human. It's hard being mean to Garrus and Tali :( ). The endings were a massive disappointment for me, since they were completely not what we were told to expect. I hope Bioware fix the problem, because it really kills my enjoyment of the game knowing how poor the endings are. That said, I still love the series. Having 1% of the game be really, really bad (even if it's one of the most important parts) doesn't ruin the whole series for me. I still enjoy seeing how my choices change the gameplay during the games, even if it ultimately has no effect on the end of the saga. Plus, the writing is amazing. I cannot count how many times I was totally heartbroken during Mass Effect 3 because of events which happened and mistakes that I made. Bioware did a great job at playing with your emotions throughout the series, but especially so in Mass Effect 3. Even some of the background chatter is seriously upsetting, like hearing the story of a PTSD suffering Asari. My next goal is to get the DLC I don't yet have (one piece for ME1, and Overlord for ME2) and do one big huge playthrough with my "primary" character, making all the choices I would make myself rather than playing as some pure renegade or pure paragon.

What DLC have you played ? I have not been able to get it yet. I dont like paying for a package if i dont know if it is worth it. Which DLC do you think is the best ?

There's only one worth getting for Mass Effect 1. It's called "Bring Down the Sky", basically adds an extra mission with everyone's favourite human haters the Batarians. For Mass Effect 2, "Lair of the Shadow Broker" is definitely worth looking at, and I've heard Overlord is as well (hence why I plan on buying it). Shadow Broker gives you a big extra mission arc involving Liara, and it's a lot of fun. Arrival is also pretty good for ME2. Not as good as Lair of the Shadow Broker, but if you plan on getting ME3 it's worth a look because it fills in some of the gaps in between the two games.

I too have played all the Mass Effect games (as well as read all of the codexes). For me, the main pull of the game was affecting the worlds around you as you continue on one mission to save the world. Whenever you ventured off by yourself, it was just another awesome addition to the great experience. Bioware did the unimaginably difficult job of tying many different decisions together in some of the most incredible ways. So it struck me at the heart when I heard the endings weren't good. So I was weary of the last ten minutes of the game. But, when all was said and done, I didn't feel shortchanged like others have experienced. Sure, they did feel a little cheap, but the experience as a whole was worth it. Video games are entertainment, and if they are able to entertain you for hours (I, for example, have played with the Mass Effect universe for about 120 hours), they have done their job. Sure, the last few moments weren't as satisfying as all the hours spent in Mass Effect (and left more questions unanswered), but I will be happy to pay for more content. The Mass Effect world is all about choices, and as long as I get some more of that in DLC, you won't see me complaining. In short; No, I do not shortchanged by the endings, but I did feel a tad disappointed. The endings did not ruin the game as a whole, and I enjoyed playing.

I wonder how bioware will make the new ending a better the product then the one on game. It was released recently that they would make a new ending. I would like to see a little more about what happens to the rest of the crew. Some people I knew were angry with the ending. What would be some things you would like to see in the future ending relase?
