Hi mylotters, Touted as 'The Best Action Movie In Decades' by film critics, The Raid is testing my curiosity and killing my patience to watch it a.s.a.p! Let me quote an IMDB user review of The Raid after watching the movie in Toronto International Film Festival: "This movie had a room or 1250 people cheering every few minutes. Non stop excitement. I don't think I can ever remember a movie that had so much action from start to finish. The weapons, the fighting, the knives, and the made up weapons, aka light bulb, propane tank keep you riveted to the screen. I don't think another movie like this will appear for some time. Best to be seen in a room full of people, hopefully non that are afraid of the sight of blood ...' The Raid is Indonesian action flick which is written, edited and directed by Welsh director Gareth Evans starring Indonesian rising star Iko Uwais. All casts and 95% of crews are Indonesians. It made me proud to be Indonesian as this is the first Indonesian movie ever to reach Hollywood. Spoiler 1: most of Indonesian movies are ghost-sexy-themed craps! Spoiler 2: The Raid is getting a new score by a member of Linkin Park (forgot his name) and Joe Trapanese for its international release. This movie is scheduled to start screening globally today (March 23rd 2012). It made me sad that though I'm an Indonesian, I couldn't watch the movie any near soon as I'm in North Africa at the moment. So, is anyone of you lucky enough to watch this badass movie in a theater nearby? Did The Raid really kicked you in the face? ---------------- Important links: The Raid page at IMDB: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1899353/ The Raid official site: http://sonyclassics.com/theraid/index.html The Raid screening dates schedule (US): http://sonyclassics.com/theraid/dates.html

Hi, thanks for your respond. True, that not all Indonesian movies nowadays are craps, there are few of them which are good enough. As for Barry Prima, Dono Kasino and Indro's movies, those were only good enough for South East Asia standard back then. I've watched Killer Elite by the way, a friend of mine downloaded it. It was quite good movie, in fact the fight scene between Jason Statham and Clive Owen is great to watch. I love all action movies starring Statham. But I'm sure that The Raid -based on what I've read so far- is gonna be better than Killer Ellite, action wise. Back to The Raid. Here is the uncompleted list of countries/territories and companies which hold distribution right for The Raid's theater screenings: US & South America (distributed by Sony), Canada (Alliance), UK (Momentum), Australia (Madman), France (SND), Germany (Koch), Japan (Kadokawa), China (HGC), Turkey (Calinos) ... source: http://twitchfilm.com/news/2011/05/sony-picks-up-the-raid-for-us-distribution-leading-a-wave-of-international-distribution-deals.php By the way, I see from your profile that you're a Malaysian (or currently living in Malaysia). I believe The Raid will come to your theaters, since Indonesia and Malaysia are so close. Speaking of Tony Ja's Ong Bak, you should see Gareth Evans & Iko Uwais first movie titled Merantau. It was more similar to Ong Bak :) Some additional points to note: - Gareth Evans is married to Indonesian Maya Evans and currently is living in Jakarta. He's very passionate about Silat martial art and made his Silat documentary movie. That's when he came to know to Iko Uwais, a Silat practitioner and national champion. - The Raid (Serbuan Maut) is Gareth Evans' second action movie starring Iko Uwais, the previous one is Merantau Warrior (Merantau). - When Sony bought the film distribution right, they decided to contract Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park and Joe T. to do a new score for The Raid's US and international releases (marketing strategy). - The movie title is Serbuan Maut for Indonesian release, The Raid for international release and The Raid: Redemption for US release.

wow.. with Gareth being basically an Indonesian..that makes this an Indomesian film. just the Linkin Park scores..is just for international release.. i ve seen such strategy before in some Taiwan films..where they have an english song for their international releases.. i do hope the international release will maintain the Malay language instead of dubbing in english..etc
