Mathew 1:1 tells that He is the son of David Luke 3:23 was thought, of Joseph, the son of Heli 2 Timothy 2:8 raised from the dead, descended from David --I still believe that he was born miraculously without any male intervention. Virgin Mary gave birth on him because God creates what He wills! You may want to share on this topic?

Matthew 1:1 simply means that Jesus was a descendant of David who was a descendant of Abraham. Regarding Luke 3:23: Before Jesus confessed to being the Messiah, the Son of God, the people did not know He was anyone more than the son of Joseph the carpenter. That's why the Scripture says, "And when He began His ministry, Jesus Himself was about thirty years of age, being SUPPOSEDLY the son of Joseph, the son of Eli." Matthew's recording of Jesus' genealogy is through Jesus surrogate father, Joseph. The genealogy in the book of Luke is through Jesus' mother, Mary.

Hi 6precious, I'm wondering how you can say that the genealogy in the book of Luke is through Mary? Certainly that's not the way that I read it,and I'm mystified as to how you can. What version are you using? Blessings.

Pose123: I did some research and what I found was that Matthew's genealogy was given to show that Jesus' right to the thrown of David and that's why it had to be given through His surrogate father, Joseph. Since the Luke genealogy is different from the one in Matthew, it is presumed it's Mary's line. Since both Joseph and Mary are from the house of David, Jesus has a right to the thrown of David. I put -Jesus' genealogy- into the search engine and got my information from a website called: complete bible genealogy.com.

You will find in the Bible many contradictions ? [or Christ is born of the Virgin Mary without a father because God wanted , he is not son of God as Christians said ( Almighty God for what they describe )

Matthew 1:1 Today's New International Version (TNIV) 1 This is the genealogy of Jesus the Messiah the son of David, the son of Abraham: In order for Jesus to be the Messiah, he had to be in the genealogy of both Abraham and David, as promises were made to them that the Messiah would be one of their descendants. 1 Chronicles 17:14 Today's New International Version (TNIV) 14 I will set him over my house and my kingdom forever; his throne will be established forever.’” The lineage concludes with the Joseph and Mary, his foster parents as the real father of Jesus is YHWH (Yahweh, Jehovah) God. Matthew 1:16 Today's New International Version (TNIV) 16 and Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary, and Mary was the mother of Jesus who is called the Messiah.

Excellent. I will tell you, he, Jesus was born because of the holy spirit God had given to Virgin Mary; Therefore, no genealogy, it was a miracle, His flesh and blood are all belongs to God.

@sabado: Definitely, you were absolutely right saying that Jesus was born "without male intervention". Please note that when the Bible speaks of the term "son" it doesn't directly refer to offspring of a man and woman as a couple. Notice that Luke 3:23-37 traces Jesus' genealogy backwards from His foster father Joseph who hailed from David's line. Matthew 1:1-17 traces it forward from the time of Abraham, leading likewise to David's line. Luke 1:26 mentioned that even Mary, the mother of Jesus, was a descendant of David. This genealogy proves of the book of Revelation's referral to Jesus Christ as the "Root and Offspring of David" (Revelations 5:5; 22:16)

Hi sabado, I know that Matthew tells us that he was the son of David but was he really? True Joseph's lineage is traced back to David, but was Jesus the son of Joseph? Most Christians don't seem to think so, since they believe in the virgin birth. Blessings.

When the bible talks of Jesus being the son of David, it is just explaining the whole family tree of Jesus. Jesus was born of the Virgin Mary and his father was Joseph who was chosen by God to be the husband of Mary.
