What does one really gain in taking risks? Are you a risktaker??? Does it always bring out the best in you?

I love the challenge as a risk taker. It boils my mind to something that I wanted to achieve.

I feel that life is far too short to hold back on anything. I am a BIG risk taker, and I don;t always obviously win, but I do still always try to win out with each risk that I take. Life is full of risks, if you know it or not. ;-)

I'm not a natural risk taker, but I have come to the realisation that it's impossible to avoid risk altogether. If you're in what you think is a secure job, there's always a chance you could get the sack or the company could go bust. If you're running a business, there are all kinds of risks involved there. Even staying on the dole carries the risk of vegetating or not being able to cope financially with the next crisis arises. The same with any area of life. If you're going to take risks anyway (and even doing nothing is a risk) then it's better to take calculated risks than to gamble.

To gain advantage in this competitive world, we should not be afraid to take risks. I believe, in careers and business, the winners are often the risktakers, they are never afraid to try new things, they like challenges and are always ready to face the consequences. One will never advance in his chosen field if he is always scared, always afraid to take risks and discover the unknown. It is often because of fear of failure why people avoid taking risks.

whole life is risky. You can always be hit by a meteorite, die in an accident or of an heart attack or whatever. The trick is to avoid the sort of risks that are calculable but which have incalculable consequences. Say, you don't have to jump off that 40 m high cliff into that 3m deep pond because it is a calculable risk with incalculable consequences. To risk one's life or fortune to protect other life is a more difficult question though I guess... Cheers

What is a risk? this is different for each of us. In the eyes of others I may be one, to my opinion I am not. I am a fast thinker and before I decide I already know what the pro's and contra's are. If I decide to do it, it's fine with me. And yes it does take the best out of me, I am full of energy and go for it, also seldom mistaken.

Hi,Graceekwenx~ Well,I guess by taking risks,we change our lives.I mean,if you are perfectly happy with your life, you will not take risks, right?Unless you are a risktaker in nature. Meh,I would say I like taking risks. But so far,I haven't taken many risks.Sometimes I think I couldn't bear the consequences. But I'd like to try.'Cause I don't want to live a dull life. And risks are things that make life spectacular.Just my view. Have a nice day~ Sarah

We will never know that we can do it if we do not take the risk , the chance of trying out. What we get from taking risk will be growth. It may not be successful but it will teach you to be better, to make more wiser decisions. It teaches us to be brave, to trust in ourselves more. I once read a poem entitled "The Risk" its says To risk nothing is to risk appearing a fool. If you do not take the chance and grab the opportunity, you might get stuck to where you are now.
