How do you keep your home clean and organized?

My small apartment is a disaster. We have too much clutter at home which makes cleaning almost impossible. All my family members have jobs and we all find it difficult to squeeze cooking into our schedule, let along cleaning. It's not that we go home late, but we all feel very tired after work. I feel very embarrassed every time a friend comes over. They're not complaining though LOL. Some weeks ago, I have been watching a Japanese program. I find Japanese homes very clean and organized. Also, I was really surprised to know that Japanese love to keep a LOT of kitchen supplies at home. How they managed to hide them is a mystery to me. Seeing their neat homes inspired me to started cleaning some parts of our home. I was really happy with the results. I decided to allot some time for cleaning at least once a week. If your home isn't like ours, do you have any tips for me? We have so many things here and moving to a bigger home is not going to happen anytime soon. We've already donated/given away a lot of things that we no longer use.
