Well, Dora.. My question to you would be - can you postpone this vacation to Myrtle Beach for another time? If you cannot, then by all means go for it without any regrets. Tell your superior that this vacation cannot be postponed due to some family function/reunion that happens only once per year. Explain to him/her that this time the event is happening during the Summer vacation, unfortunately and you are expected to be there. If problems arise, ask your superior whether the thing you need to do for the school is really urgent. What I mean to say is that try everything you can to get htis precious "me" time... Enjoy life, one can not always work and not have play right..? I tend to put off my work when I'm able to do so, just to have ''me'' time and enjoy myself.

The first thing you have to ask yourself is which is more important? Which can wait? I am sure the school asked you back for a reason. Are you able to accept that reason. As for the date, will there be other opportunities? What are the consequences of doing one versus doing the other? Make a list of each and then you make a decision based on your own judgement. I guess for me it would depend on how often I get to go on vacation. If I go on vacation a lot then it wouldn't bother me to head back. But if I hardly get to go anywhere and the trip has cost a great deal then I would put off going back to school. I hope you enjoy your time whatever you decide to do.
