well, i am not really too old to say, i am tired but, due to some reasons, i do really feel tired and exhausted. and i think, this is because, i was forced to do almost everything that an eldest daughter should do. that, at an early stage, i was mandated to do everything and forced to learned it. thus, the exhausting feeling really runs into my nerves. more often than not, there are times i am telling to myself, i guess i am tired. that is why, i am exhausted most of the times.

I feel you there. I am the eldest, so a very heavy responsibility lies on my shoulders. I should be mature to be able to support my siblings and that I should think for their good more than mine. And most of the time, learning everything at once really leaves me feeling drained and would rather sleep and sleep and just sleep the whole day. But we can't because we have a responsibility to uphold and we must be strong for those who needed us.

I think highly of you, because you can control youself suitably about your responsibility and reality .As for me ,i haven't the good self-control ability so that i always run out of money provided by my family,a farmer' family. After the money is up i will turn to my father ,in fact i have been 19 .as for this ,i think so ashamed comparing with you. thus, i will try my best to change my bad costom. Thanks you to give me a lesson.

@mingyan-There is never to late to learn something in life.Even if your parents are still able to support you it is always a good thing to became more independent.I actually heve always felt better knowing that everything that i achieved was done with my own work and money.Even if it is tireing and hard sometimes,at the end of the day i feel that i have reasons to be proud of me and that makes things easier. @sinfulrose I understand you perfectly. We must be happy for the fact that God and nature made us strong.i know many people that are loosing the way after minor problems so i am always thankful for the fact that i am strong.sometimes i am even thinking that is better this way.maybe if i would have been the spoiled child i would have never become stronger and able to face the life.

You should take some vitamins to keep yourself healthy. Just have enough sleep, eat healthy foods. Most important, learn to rest and relax yourself once in a while. You deserve some break once in a while. You owe it to yourself.

Maybe, its not a physical tiredness that you are having. Its more of an emotional tiredness or what we call stress. Maybe taking a vacation will work. Even a short vacation will do.

There may be other reasons for your exhaustion other than physical labor or having too much responsibility thrust upon you before you are either old or mature enough to handle them. One of the most commonly known symptoms of depression is being tired or sleeping all of the time. There is even a condition known as chronic fatigue syndrome where the body has trouble refiling it's natural reserves and so you rremain exhausted all the time. If your exhaustion is adversly affecting your quality of life I recommend that you contact your doctor immediately and begin looking for the cause of your exhaustion.

Well this reminds me of the TV drama that is airing in my country now. It's about the daughters-in-law of a 300 year old traditional family which has been lasting for generations. It's talking about the sufferings of the daughters-in-law ever since they married into the family and that they have to learn everything even before they marry into the family or else they cannot be good wives. But then when the marry into the family, they have to learn much more, including being patient when they mothers-in-law scold them or what. Now I see the same picture here. Well I guess, this is part and parcel of life. As to why the eldest daughter or daughter-in-law is not doing everything and you're doing it, I don't know but then it's best to be patient and scrape through everything you can. If you're really tired, you could tell your mother-in-law and your family that you want a break and then go for a holiday, at least to let your mind relax a little while. It's no use having to do something plain everyday and getting upset at small little things. Just cool down, take a deep breath and everything will be ok

Maybe you need to visit your doctor. People should not get tired that often since our body adapts to whatever we're doing every day. Maybe you lack some vitamins or something.

I am sorry friend :( Sometimes we all just need some time away to recharge our batteries. Try relaxing! Have some green tea and take some time to reflect on what is really making you so tired. Good luck, Tomorrow is another day :)

yeah, we all feel tired at times. but it does not help if you condition your mind to feel tired. our physical body has limitations on strength and endurance. it can only do and take so much pressures. i hope you provide yourself enough cushion to take on these pressures and challenges. reward yourself for working hard. in this way, you reenergize yourself.

Same as me! I am really feeling tired and exhausted the past few weeks. But unlike you, I don't have elderly responsibilities. It is just that work keeps on piling up and I have to extend way over my working limits too much. I need time for rest now. Everything seems fast paced at the workplace and I just ope I can still cope up with all the pressures and stress coming up. Good thing that whenever I am feeling pressured, I have some techniques to relieve my stress. But still, how I wish that all the stress and pressure will eventually vanish soon before it wash out my physical and mental states

Back in my college days, I wrote a paper on birth order. You are correct - first borns tend to feel that way from a young age because they are the first. All that a new parent(s) learn is experimented on the first born. All the next are just able to slide in to the family it seems. For some reason once the next baby comes, parents see the first born as all grown up and capable of doing stuff - no matter what his or her age. I studied this because I was a first born, and felt like I carried the weight of the family responsibilities on my shoulders. First borns are the ones who share in the worries parents have, and feel they must do something. I tried not to place those burdens on my daughter. She is almost eight years older than my son so it was difficult not to ask her to mind the baby if I wanted to take a shower or something. I think parents automatically turn to the oldest for help like that.
