I read the books two times, and I saw the film, but I have to say that I was a bit disappointed. If you have never read the books, and then you saw the movie, you have nothing to worry about, and you probably loved the movie, but if you read the books and then saw the movie, then the movie probably didn't completely live up to your expectations.

I was a bit disappointed too. I think there are some parts in the book that was not portrayed well in the movie such as the importance of Peeta in Katniss's life, of how he saves her life by giving her the bread. Yes, in the movie it was shown that he gave the bead in the rain, but it is supposed to show more than that, that Katniss is struggling to have food to give to her family and when they don't have anything to eat anymore, Peeta gives her bread. And I watched the movie with my boyfriend, it seems that to non book readers, the movie is not as clear as the book. My boyfriend kept asking questions about why is this and why is that, etc. There are some things in the movie that are not clear to the non book readers.

Yeah, if you didn't really read the books, you can get a little lost with the film. Yes, it was also supposed to show Katniss's true struggle for food. There were so many things that could have been improved upon, and it's like it just wasn't touched on. One thing I did like, Gale's reaction to watching some of what happens in the games. Katniss made several comments to how Gale might be reacting to what was going on in the games, and I do love how they show Gale watching the games, and how he wasn't too happy watching Katniss smooching up Peeta.

Oh yes. I liked that too. I was impressed that they added that. It's exactly how I imagine Gale to react while watching the Games. There are a few additions in the film that I was glad they added. Like when Caesar Flickerman was explaining to the audience about the tracker jackers so the audience knows what it is. And they also showed how Haymitch talked to the sponsors. So that's a plus point to the film.

Yes, those were great because so many of the fans only saw everything from Katniss's point-of-view and so we didn't get to see what went on while she was fighting for her life. We didn't get to see the reactions of the people, how Haymitch got the sponsors, and the commentary between Claudius Templesmith and Caesar Flickerman. I was very disappointed about the Muttations. Those could have been far better.

The books, I think, were written back in 2006, and Suzanne Collins is the author. She is amazing. The only stories or books that are similar to "The Hunger Games" are "Battle Royale" from Japan.

I agree with you the book is much better...but I think the the Japanese version ( battle royale) movie was more brutal

I don't know why people compare the two books because they aren't all that similar other than the children killing each other. I love "Battle Royale" and "The Hunger Games" and I do not like choosing between the two.

I always like if possible to read the books first then watch the movie to compare the two. I was so obsessed with these books it took me about a day and a half to read the first book in the hunger games series. It was my favorite of all the books. I think the movie was very close to the books and very good but the books were better because you could get a stronger understanding of what was going on in the characters heads. Amazing books but only just very good for the movie.

Yes, the books were certainly better than the film, but I wouldn't never completely knack the film. I just think that the film could have been so much better. I am thinking that maybe it was because of time or because of budget constraints that they weren't able to do everything that they wanted to do for the film. The books were great though. I loved the books. I loved the books so much that I actually want to do some academic papers on them.

Hi rogue, i guess you've given a good tip on how to appreciate the movie you would have to watch. That's true because for whatever reasons there are cases or situation in the book that could not really be shown in the movie that is why movies have categories. Nice day ahead my friend.. There are things that they could have shown in the movie, but it's like they decided to omit it from the film. I was happy about the fact that they did show what went on behind the scenes of the games and how Haymitch Abernathy got the sponsors for District 12, but I thought that the muttations could have been bigger and more grotesque looking.

The Hunger Games - The Hunger Games, starring Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth
I saw The Hunger Games few days back and I was also disappointed by the movie. I haven't read the book, I taught of seeing the movie first, even though not reading the book I felt disappointed by the movie, I felt the movie quiet slow and the reviews I read about the movie said it's quiet good but I think it's quiet boring ...

I recommended reading the book because it is so much better than the movie. The movie wasn't all bad, but it could have been a lot better. I don't think that the movie or the books are boring at all. Why did you think that the movie was boring?

I read the books before seeing the movie. In the book there is in details but in the movie it is in a short. I have also much expectation as you after reading books and before seeing movie. But when I finished the movie I am surprised as my expectation does not fulfill. The movie really did not touch my heart as the books touch my heart.
