I'm starting to think about this. Does the price of extended education really pay off. Is it really necessary to pay all that money for the jobs people get?

In essence you aren't investing in a job, but you are investing in knowledge that will allow you to access a wider range of vocation, and potentially increase your employability.

Yes, it increases employability, but are people really getting into those careers that they've worked so hard for? I am seeing more and more people who wished they would have just attended a tech school so that they could be working right now. I see those people working and being happy with where they are, yet, all these people with college degrees are the ones lacking work.

It all depends on the kind of job that they are aiming for. Those who qualify with college degrees are in essence overqualified for the jobs that tech school graduates turn to. One has to keep in mind that there will come a point where these jobs will reach a saturation point, and thereafter demand for college graduate degree holders will increase.
